Naval Battles

Though naval battles are currently autocalced, is there any likelyhood that they will allow you to control your ships in future games? It would be nice to be able to actually be able to be able to win a naval battle without randomness thrown in. Also, maybe you could do an amphibious attack strait from the ships and you could also take enemy ships for yourself.

Would ship battles be too boring to do or are there other problems that prevent them from happening?
