Has anyone mentioned the "follow projectile" command in the dropdown box in the demo.

If you are firing a siege engine, select it and then right click. Select the
"follow projectile" command, and each time the engine fires, your camera flies along behind the stone as it arcs towards the target.

Neat, huh? Boy, I love that ancient artillery.

Sounds like some golfers could be recruited for assasination missions: "Hmm, I think a nine iron and a caltrop for the CA."

I may have to change the name to ShadeWoods to be more intimidating with artillery....

It works for the archers arrows too, and although not nearly as impressive as the catapult and trebuchet missile landings , you do get to hear the twang of the bows and the whistle of the arrows much clearer.

I bet a really successful trebuchet team could get a Nike sponsership---Just think of it. Matching red jerseys emboldened with white crusader crosses set off by the Nike logo in big red letters. Blood red high tops with little crosses that light up when the trebuchet fires. It would be impressive.

Well done FO for some damn good researching.

if you edit the prod file you can fire cannon
balls, but the walls won,t last so long.

I would like to add, if you see a button
in the game and you don't know what it
is for, press it and find out.

Thats how I found out about the follow projecttile button. I pressed it and nothing happened...a few seconds later however, I was being shot out of a catapult. I was dazed for a sec...literally.
at first I thought it was some sort of glitch. lol

Everytime!
It is my favorite battle of the demo. I mean it is not really very hard, but I just love knocking those walls down and bowling for peasents.

Glad you like the feature.

There was some debate here about whether the game should deduct one peasant from the nearest unit each time the camera follows an artillery projectile. In the end we decided against it http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

If you're following a projectile, try hitting pause and then rotating the camera all around it. The projectiles are all part of the battle logic, so they all freeze. Yes, it's 'bullet time' - or possibly 'rock time'...

You can achieve another slow-motion effect by pausing the game and then issuing orders; each time an order is issued, the game advances one frame so the order can get processed. For one thing this means the troop icons and ghost destinations are updated, so you can see where your orders will send troops. (Previously you had to unpause the game to get this effect.) For another thing, this means that if you hold down a reasonably harmless 'order' key, the game will keep advancing by one frame at a time...
