Okay, here's the scoop, as I'm not sure its a bug I won't do an official report yet.

Situation:

I'm playing as Makedonia, and it's not even 270 BC. I'm sieging Sparta to take control of all Southern Greece.

I am attacked by a Koinon Hellenon army outside of the city, and there are three generals. During the battle I kill them all and destroy the army, leaving the army in control of Sparta with 0 units, and the one outside with 4.

When I exit to the Campaign Map I see that my army does not capture Sparta, and think that it means I have to wait till my turn. When my turn comes around I recieve the message:
Faction defeated: Koinon Hellenon
but Sparta reverted to the Rebels, even though I had won the freakin city in battle during their turn. WTF?

At that point I autoresolved thinking that I'd be able to go up to Pella to retrain and fight Epeiros, but then they took my city, and my armies were kinda weak, so I quit, but I find this problem to be quite wierd, since I was supposed to have captured Sparta even though the KH had been destroyed.
I believe that I still have the save file, I'd have to check. If I do I'd find a way to get it to you guys (maybe as an e-mail attachment or something?).

If you defeat a faction by killing all family members, their towns revert to rebel even if they should have nothing left in them.

If the battle had happened in the city, the city would be yours. But since the battle occured just outside the city (even though it contained the city forces) the game calculated that the faction was destroyed, setting the city to rebel and giving it a new garrison, before it calculated that a seiged city had no garrison, forcing it to surrender.

I've had this happen many times.
