I had something happen last night that hasn't happened to me before in the many computer games I've bought. When I brought my game home and tried to install, the installer routine ran fine till about 19% in on the first disc, then hung when trying to read the CD and decompress the files. It happened again on the next try, and when I used the other CD drive on my machine, and finally the same error occurred when I tried to install it on my wife's machine. Each the installation would hang, then an alert box would pop up with a message telling me that I had a "move data -106 error" or something of the sort. I closely inspected the CD for dirt, scratches, or any apparent blemishes in the track area, but nothing appeared wrong. I then tried to copy the files from the CD to a temp directory on my hard drive, and after several minutes the process again hung with a error. Arrghh!! http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/mad.gif
Thank goodness the EB where I bought it is only twenty minutes away, and the nice folks exchanged the game for me without a problem. After returning home at record speed, the install routine on the new copy of the game ran without a hitch. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
Has anyone else had this problem?
