Hi
I'm a newbie player of M2TW and i would like to ask you what Mod do you suggest to play with.
I intend for stability and medieval enjoiment!:help:
Thank you in advance
Stainless Steel is fun to play but I've heard a lot of good things about Lands to Conquer

Land to Conquor is good but it is the least noticably modded... Basically it is the vanilla game tweaked and rebalanced and is much better for it, but it is not a fancy as other mods with their new factions and units and regions and fancy scripting...
Horses for courses...
I play the Long Road. It has a large number of provinces, so it takes a while to conquer everywhere. Also the higher costs of units and buildings prevent rapid expansion.

The long road is a belting mod theres loads more factions & loads more units available on a much larger map + extra building to build with way more provinces (no americas though).
you can get it from here http://files.filefront.com//;7637886;;/
The only thing about this mod is its extremely tactical because money is so tight which i didnt really like myself (why have all those beautiful units but not be able to afford them half the time). Although this can be easily fixed by editing the descr_strat.txt and changing the kings purse for each faction to a much higher amount of money (ive got each faction on 50000).
All you do once you've installed the mod is navigate to this folder
C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\The_Long_Road\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign
then open the descr_strat.txt (make a copy of the original file so you can restore the originally mod if wanted) file and scroll down looking for this
faction syria, balanced napoleon
ai_label default
denari 8000
denari_kings_purse 2500
settlement
See the line with the kings purse just change that 2500 to a higher amount for every faction and there so will be loads of money in the game for everyone then save and close the file.
If you do the above with the money you end up with basically m2tw on steroids which im finding to be really enjoyable & vastly superior to vanilla m2tw.
But if you do fancy something really tactical just try the vanilla mod even as is its brilliant.

The Long road is a good choice (playing it at the moment...)
Haven't tried Stainless Steel yet but it sounds promising...

Yes, i'm currently in debt for not having taken into account the financial pressure that ending a crusade would put me into...
Until now , it hasn't really been a problem but I must admit that even in vanilla I must be a big spender as my finances always seem to lie under the 10000 level (a reaso more to sack any and all settlements ?)
btw which faction did you choose ?

Tristan i picked england as there normally one of the econimc power houses in the vanilla game plus the british isle are pretty secure and im really enjoying it atm. Come next game though im going to try out the new yellow islamic faction in iran or maybe even the byzantiums as ive never played them even in vanilla.
