Well, Robert Bruce did marry an Irish(sort of) noblewoman, so it's not totally unheard of. I wish he'd been the Scottish "hero" character instead WW, but nevermind, I'd just be re-hashing the "Mel Gibson sucks" stuff again, everyone knows it already. What does everyone think of Scotland in Kingdoms then?

A certain Brian O'Connor, who I'm fairly confident didn't exist (well, no-one by that name was King of (Gaelic) Ireland in 1271 or whenever it starts) And is wife is named Jill. Maybe they're confusing him with Brian Ua Neill, who died a few years before IIRC.

The Irish unit roster is good though, looks more "historical" than I anticipated. Too much heavy armour perhaps, and they shouldn't have lancers. And a cav archer wouldn've been nice. But all-in-all it could've been a lot worse, I feel.

I don't think he is the emergent champion. It should be Brian O'Neill as he is the one who united the kingdoms. However, all his children names in the britannia campaign end in O'Neill anyway. I love the way there is a maccarthy in cork and an o'brien in tipperary(should be ennis though). There is too much heavy cavalry in the Irish roster, siege equipment would be out for the most part too.

I don't think the champion is necessarily "emergent" though. I think the list of heroes is:

England: Edward I (starting as a Prince, leaves on the Crusade and can return)
Scotland: Wallace (emerging)
Wales: Llywelyn ap Gruffydd (starting)
Ireland: Brian O'Connor (starting)
Norway: Haakon IV (starting, or emerges quickly)
Barons: Simon de Montfort (faction itself is emergent)

You can tell the hero character because they have a different apperance, both on the strat map and in battle.

Brian Ó Néill wasn't much of a hero in fairness, perhaps more of the diplomat that he could convert Aedh Ó Concobhair and Tadhg Cael Uisce to his cause (incidentally Tadhg's father, Conchobhar Ó Briain is in the game as Conor O'Brien, a nice touch I think). Brian, after arranging his superiority and recognition of his High Kingship, died a mere two years latter in the battle of Down, not making much of a historical impression. Tadhg and Aedh, who were both tánaiste at this stage, both made a greater historical impact.

I belive hero characters might give some passive bonuses on battlefield/campaing map... But it´s not certain... we need some sort of verification to this.

Only 5 characters in the Crusades camapign get hero abilities. Historical figures appear in the other campaigns but have no special abilities.

The Turks
Hero: Nur ad-Din
Power: Increases the attack speed and morale of troops for a limited time. Can be used more than once per battle, but a period of time must pass between each use.

Egypt
Hero: Saladin
Power: Set all units that have not broken to maximum morale for a limited time. Can be used more than once per battle, but a period of time must pass between each use.

Kingdom of Jerusalem
Hero: Richard the Lionheart
Power: Immediately rallied all troops who are fleeing and returns their morale to normal. Can be used more than once per battle, but a period of time must pass between each use.

Principality of Antioch
Hero: Phillip II
Power: Increases attack power and stamina of his troops for almited time. Can be used more than once per battle, but a period of time must pass between each use.

Basically turkey will use nur adin all ha army, only fool will attack manuel with flamethrowers in army and lionheart is the weakest of them all because he has high command and units will route only when they sustain 90% casualties.
