View Full Version : Playing .mp4 video

I downloaded a Google Video in .mp4 format.

I tried to play with QuickTime but for some unknown reasons it has "delay" between the sound and the video (image) itself, so it just doesn't sound right.

When I tried DivX Player it has no sound at all.

Windows Media Player plays the video very fast (like fast forward) but the sound played normally.

While Winamp only play the sound but didn't show any video (image).

Solution?

You may have codec (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite_Codec_Pack.htm) issues. It's worth it to try VLC (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/), which is the go-to play-anything program.

If VLC can't play it, it's generally safe to assume that the file is corrupt.

The file appeared to be corrupt or had unknown error. VLC can play it but there's also delay between sound and the movie. I just decided to use UnPlug add-on for Firefox to download .flv format of the movie and play it with the codec you told me. Nice codec btw, I can play many video format with just a single player now :2thumbsup:

Case solved
