M2TW mod folder 1.2.1 NEED HELP

I downloaded a mod folder off the web called M2TW mod folder 1.2.1 the descript said its just a basic starter mod nothing edited
I cant get it to run i edited export_descr_ancillaries file and export_ancillaries file so they match i only added a few things to a ancillary made sure both were the same saved and then added --io.file_first thingy to the mod .exe and it wont run all it says Medieval II suffered a fatal error and will now exit whats the problem im a newbie at this please help if u have experience with this thank you

It's to set up a mod folder, not to be installed into the base data dir.
What you do is run the installer, point it to your M2TW directory (where your medieval2.exe resides), then enter a name for the mod (usually mymod) and it'll automatically create a folder and two files called mymod.cfg and mymod.bat in your M2TW folder. You start the mod using mymod.bat
If you did that and it worked, only then you go ahead changing something and seeing if the change shows up in the game.

Once you verified that the mod folder works correctly, you do your changes to M2TW/mymod/data - not to the original data folder.

o ok i put it in the M2TW direcitory and then i started editing ill redo it and run the bat first thanks

it didn't work it still says Medieval II suffered a fatal error and will now exit
thats after i got rid of the game mod folder and the mod .bat, launcher and CFG file.
