When I try to install Medieval 2 Total War I get an error message pop up about half way through the installation process that says:

"Feature Transfer Error

Feature: Packs
component: packs
File: E:\main\packs\data_4.pack
Error: Incorrect Function"

Then when I click ok it just shuts down and goes off. Anyone know what could be be the problem here? I tried phoning Sega technical support but got no answer. I also tried searching on their website and got no joy from that either.

Any of you guys have an idea what the problem could be? The game ran fine on my old PC with Windows XP, but since I changed my PC and have Vista it wont install.

Check to make sure your disc isn't scratched or dirty.
After cleaning it, if you still get that error, you probably have a defective copy.
Most companies will replace defective copies free of charge or for a small fee.

Good luck.

First simple step : check the disk on another computer.
If it doesn't work, it is defective - look for a replacement.
If it does work, there's probably some software problem. Uninstalling CD burning and/or emulation software (stuff like Daemon Tools) might help. I've had similar problems in the past - recurring "incorrect function" errors - caused by some malfunction with said software.
