View Full Version : Query - Eternal life....
So i managed to train a really good general, at least the best i encountered so far. However his life is drawing to a close and i would really like to keep him.....So is there any way to change this guy's age?:help:

I don't know of any method to change a character' age...
The only way I know of to keep characters out of death's way is the save/reload process (got my french king at 91 y.o)
Save/reload process? :help: i haven´t heard about it
Get over it, train his grandson :laugh4:
(there's no way to change a character's age except maybe through savegame editing which you'd have to figure out how to do first)

Save/Reload everyturn until he's 120, then he'll turn 0 next turn, I think.

Whenever an end turn results in the death of one of your valauble general, reload a save game and change a thingy (move a diplomat, a priest) and end turn until you don't get that death ( you still might get another but you can't save them all can't you ?)

I think you'll have to accept the inevitable...

Take a page from history and gather up your ships and launch an expedition to Floridia. Once there, enlist the help of the locals in your search for the Fountain of Youth.

There is a way, but it means all other characters will be immortal too.
The way to go about it, is to edit the descr_campaign_db and set following to higher values:
<max_age uint="90"/>
<max_age_before_death uint="105"/>

Could you explain where to find this:

Thanks in advance. :thumbsup:

As I said, its in the descr_campaign_db.
You have to unpack the specific file, fix the values and use file_first to run your game to make it work.
Your unpacker's target section should look somewhat like that:
C:\Medieval2\tools\unpacker\unpacker.exe --source=c:\medieval2\packs\*.pack --destination=c:\medieval2\tools\unpacker --filter=*ign_db.xml
Where you replace c:\medieval2 with wherever your m2tw directory is on all three instances.
the filter I already set up, so running it should unpack exactly that file only.
Open it up, mod it, and dump it straight into your normal m2tw data directory (or add it to whatever mod you are playing directory).
Then run your game using file_first. (using either a shortcut or adding it to your cfg)
