So, after recently purchasing and beating both God of War I and II, I got the idea that a spartan army would probably pwn any other army if I could advance quick enough to do so.
Well, this is before I knew about AAR's. It would have been fun to write and RP a Kratos type character (albeit a human one, not a super-powered hybrid) leading a spartan army. I did end up with an amazing general, I wish I had made a screen shot of him. 10 stars, 10 management, 8 influence standing still. He and his army of spartans (the only army I had) expanded my KH campaign insanely. No losses. I haven't played that campaign in a while. I have four spartan armies. Three of which are occupying my most distant colonies atm. They each have four units of successor cavalry and one general. I decided early on that after encountering the romans that they "learned" the maniple formation and have been using it to great success. If I pick up the campaign again, I will start an AAR for fun.
I did create one normal army consisting of all high level troops to defend my asia minor settlements from the baktrians who have killed the silver death and are working on my allies, the ptolemies. The blue death is a lot more pretty (yes, I said pretty) than the silver death. The Romans are finally taking a hit. They took me on turn after turn for a while throwing 3 or four stacks against two of my spartan armies. It's fun to be in a pitched battle and watch the PC enter the fray controlling a full spartan stack. So my spartans have 1 or 2 silver chevrons and I got pissed and pushed the romans back to segestica and have since declared a ceasefire for the past 20 turns or so. Baktria and Epirus are my only enemies at the moment. I forget what year I'm in. I finished off the Getai and Epirus is up north in saroumatae territory.
Baktria is annoying the hell out of me. They bring two full stacks and just stand them outside my easternmost city (the one just west of ancrya, the big one).
I've been pretty laid back, focusing on infrastructure more than anything else. I have no navy to speak of. Spies and diplomats in every city. I have kept all faction leaders in my Spartan line. I've had one really annoying general that had in all -4 management and -35% to trade income :furious3:. He also had really bad dis-ads for morale. He went to defend a pass against an AS stack by himself. :whip: :wall: I never felt better losing a battle.
A little cheap, perhaps, but the challenge of one city bearing the only armed forces and transporting them without wearing out the general made for a few close calls with Rome. If school relents, I'll pick the campaign back up and do an AAR.
