View Full Version : Any way to get rid of surplus priests?
My Chichimec priests have done their work of conversion and are now just a drain on my treasury. How can I disband them?
only the understrength single ship pirate hunt as far as i know...
This is what I used to do in V1.2:
Put the unwanted agent(s) in an unwanted ship, park it adjacent to the coast, send a few military units to stand on the land spaces that are touching the ship. Now if you disband the ship, since the agent(s) cannot get to the occupied land spaces, they died. :skull:
I don't know if this will work in the expansion because I haven't tried it yet. So good luck.:2thumbsup:

The natives can't build a ship so this trick doesn't work. I don't think there is a solution.

Since you can't build forts in the Americas, your options are pretty limited. I'm not even sure you can use assassins on your own priests, since I've never tried.
If you are absolutely wanting to kill them off, you could put them all in a city, and let the enemy capture it. Extreme, maybe. I guess the relative value of the temporary loss of a city would need to be weighed against the lifetime cost of the priests.

Are there any green arrow water crossings? If you hit backspace while they're in mid crossing, they'll stop in the water and drown, at least in vanilla 1.2.

Dear All:
Good morning from Canada!! I hope this finds you and yours well. As for me, I could complain...yadda, yadda, yadda.
Are you playing as New Spain? If so, I suggest missionary work on the slim chance that you don't have enough "real" missionaries to go around. I don't recommend killing them off for it said in the Ten Commandments, "Thou shalt not kill." I think that also went for priests.
Just my:2cents:.
Live long and prosper, take care and thank you kindly!!!!
Sincerely yours always,
Indy.

not sure how well a TW campaign would go based on following that particular commandment!

I rather think the First Commandment is "Thou shall not be killed" :idea2:

When the enemy captures a cities the agents just move outside the city I believe.

Can you whack-a-mole your own agents? ie surround all 8 spaces of the agent/target with army units, then drop an army unit in the center, on top of the agent?
Tiresome but I love it. Realistically I think of this as your just cordoning off the area and performing search and destroy for agents.

I don't think so. The agent would join your army...
Can you use the move character console command to move them out to sea?
I should never have built priests in the first place. A priest costs 100 per turn in maintenance. Building and sacrificing a cheap infantry unit is more cost effective.
When I finally finished up my Chichimec campaign I had large armies in Florida. I sacrificed them and built better units in southern Mexico.
