On a more serious note...

I love chocolate. But it wasn't always so. I didn't care for the stuff at all when I was younger. However, now I am a chocolate snob. I love a nice dark chocolate, preferably from Beligum or Switzerland or of comparable quality. At least 68 % cacao. And it is best enjoyed with a nice glass of port and a few hours of EB.

In fact, I think that it a grand plan for the evening. Better check my supplies ...

They won in Zulu Dawn (Isandlwana) and nearly won in Zulu (Rorkes Drift).

I'm been to both battle sites--the burial cairns at Islandlwana are spooky. Apparently, they could identify Colonel Durnford's body a year later because his moustache was still attached to his skull even though his flesh had decomposed.

Something they didn't put in the movie Zulu was that you can see the Isandlwana battlefield from Rorkes Drift. The movie had them discovering the Zulus were coming from a retreating Natal Mounted Rifles company. But in reality they knew exactly what was happening and knew 4000 Zulus were on their way as the battle was happening.

The Garamantes in EB look vaguely Zuluish.

For good, just buy some of the more familiar brands like Panasonic or Sony. NEVER NEVER BUY CREATIVE.

For current, the only way is to do market research and look at what the newest models are sporting. Then you can gauge whether what you're eyeing is an old model, or not.

For cheap, well, it all depends on what sort of features you're asking for: tape, hard disk, memory card?

This is just a short poem that I wrote after playing RTW. Upon winning the battle, it struck me that there was a more human side to the game. How many childless fathers did I just create? This is a short summary of my thoughts, please leave any feedback.

There is a boy.
Wandering amongst the scattered remains,
All of men once alive and loved
The child seeks refuge in his father's dying arms.

Fighting to fight back tears of weakness,
Under a mask of bravery the father cries;
"Child, why doth thou weep?"
Kind words cruelly misplaced.

"Over the rolling meadows there is a light,
Flames that flicker like the light of life,
For all men must, when God wills it, return to the night."

The father gazes fondly at his weeping child
Oh the pain of war! The cruelty of death!
"Son, you are the brightest star in my dimly lit world.
An angel that roams amongst the vile demons.
In your eyes I see all the good of the world.
Now go, tell your mother I love her dearly. Tell her that
Under this sad exterior i'm glad to go, to dwell eternally with the Lord."

Young and afraid, the boy cries out;
"Oh father, leave me not to die alone". With that,
Under the stars of judgement the father did die.

There is a boy.
Wandering amongst the scattered remains,
All of men once alive and loved
The child seeks refuge in his father's lifeless arms.

Over the rolling meadows there is a light,
Flames that flicker like the light of life,
For all men must, when God wills it, return to the night

Bloody Rhyfelgyrch Gwyr Harlech, to them every words a note, and every line a bloody song.

The English version (of which they clean it up, of course)

Tongues of fire on Idris flaring,
News of foemen near declaring,
To heroic deeds of daring,
Call you, Harlech men.
Groans of wounded peasants dying,
Wails of wives and children flying,
For the distant succour crying,
Call you, Harlech Men.
Shall the voice of wailing,
Now be an unavailing,
You to rouse, who never yet
In battle's hour were failing?
This our answer, crowds down pouring,
Swift as winter torrents roaring.
Not in vain the voice imploring
Calls on Harlech men.

Loud the martial pipes are sounding,
Every manly heart is bounding,
As our trusted chief surrounding,
March we, Harlech men.
Short the sleep the foe is taking;
Ere the morrow's morn is breaking,
They shall have a rude awakening,
Roused by Harlech Men.
Mothers, cease your weeping,
Calm may be your sleeping,
You and yours in safety now,
The Harlech men are keeping.
Ere the sun is high in heaven,
They you fear, by panic riven,
Shall, like frightened sheep, be driven,
Far, by Harlech men.

John Oxenford version

Men of Harlech, march to glory,
Victory is hov'ring o'er ye,
Bright-eyed freedom stands before ye,
Hear ye not her call?
At your sloth she seems to wonder;
Rend the sluggish bonds asunder,
Let the war-cry's deaf'ning thunder
Every foe appall.
Echoes loudly waking,
Hill and valley shaking;
'Till the sound spreads wide around,
The Saxon's courage breaking;
Your foes on every side assailing,
Forward press with heart unfailing,
'Till invaders learn with quailing,
Cambria ne'er can yield!

Well... maybe it does matter, but if we count this as an argument Aztecs and amrican-indians in general are cooler then the romans just because they had space ships? Or was is the Maya or the Inca? It doesnt' matter, if you have space ships or not, what you wear is ho you are! This again makes me think... If my statement is true, then the Gaesatae are nothing, right?
Anyways,this is not an argument because the expedition in the Moon in '69 was a fake and we don't know anything about space. Or maybe were the Romans who kicked their arses back on Earth? Now this sounds like an interesting theory...

Wonderful poem surprisingly, Keith! XD

I love EB but I don't think I've ever gone to that extent. In EB, I live by Stalin's lines, 'When one man dies it's a tragedy. When a million die it's a statistic.' Heh. As a proper dictator should.

I prefer THIS song, which I first heard when Transporter Chief O'Brien sang it in Star Trek TNG.

The minstrel boy to the war is gone,
In the ranks of death you'll find him;
His father's sword he hath girded on,
And his wild harp slung behind him;
"Land of Song!" cried the warrior bard,
"Tho' all the world betrays thee,
One sword, at least, thy right shall guard,
One faithful harp shall praise thee!"

The Minstrel fell! But the foeman's chain
Could not bring that proud soul under;
The harp he lov'd ne'er spoke again,
For he tore its chords asunder;
And said "No chains shall sully thee,
Thou soul of love and brav'ry!
Thy songs were made for the pure and free
They shall never sound in slavery!

The minstrel boy will return one day,
When we hear the news, we will cheer it.
The minstrel boy will return we pray,
Torn in body, perhaps, but not in spirit.
Then may he play his harp in peace,
In a world such as Heaven intended,
For every quarrel of Man must cease,
And every battle shall be ended.

It all happens "a long time ago" so perhaps the Romans kicked the space-faring humans off Earth and they fled to "a galaxy far, far away"?

There is a boy.
Wandering amongst the scattered remains,

"Child, why doth thou weep?"
Kind words cruelly misplaced.

"Over the rolling meadows there is a light,
Flames that flicker like the light of life,
For all men must, when God wills it, return to the night."

The father gazes fondly at his weeping child
Oh the pain of war! The cruelty of death!
"Son, you are the brightest star in my dimly lit world.

What I find interesting is that many issues which Obama represents, Casey opposes. Casey supports overturning Roe v Wade and is strongly opposed to same-sex marriage. He's endorsing Obama with hopes of privilege if he's elected.

(without taking his eyes off the bottle, he feels his head with his fingers and winces)

(puts the bottle away, clears his throat and asks)

Did you help the Hayasdan in any way, or did they get to where they are now all by themselves? And what about the Seleukids?

*drunkenly strokes TruePraetorian's beam cannon pistol and gropes him*

Of COURSE I helped the Hayasdan. Dammit, I practically spoonfed them. I bought lots of provinces off of AS and gifted them to Hayasdan via judicious use of the force diplomacy mod, then coaxed them into doing more than just maintaining hordes of apeleutheroi in them with generous gifts of money. It took Pontos' covetous eyes on Mazaka to wake them up. And then my Asian Legion had a damned hard time evicting their stacks of Caucasian Archers, Caucasian spearmen, cataphracts and Hye Zoravar from the western seaboard. But my rhomphaiaphoroi helped lots. :)

As it is, now they have taken Antiocheia and are getting...inquisitive in Phoenicia. And the Yellows are whimpering as they fall back, back and back. So I gave them three fullstacks of myself, and so far they've fought the Hayasdan to a stalemate but they only have like, one and a half fullstacks left. And the Hayasdan have got three on the way. Meep.

The Seleukids are split in three, the Euphrates-Tigris all the way up to Arbela, Asaak-Hekatompylos-Apameia, holding out against the Baktrians and bullying the Pahlava because they can't bully the Baktrians, and Gedrosia-India, the richest and most undesired real estate in the East.

The Hayasdan threat is such that the Skyblues are now at war with Pontos, Romani (me), Ptolemaioi, Sauromatae, and AS, and it's gotten to the stage that Pontos, me, Ptolemaioi, Sauromatae and AS have formed a Pact of Steel to deal with the Skyblues. But of course, since I don't have any common borders with the Hayasdan, it's the others doing all the fighting. :D

Pontos just betrayed the alliances though, by marching for Nikaia, so I attacked them instead. So now the alliance is, well, only the three largest factions in the game, and the most deadly cavalry-cataphract faction existent right now. (They have fullstacks comprising 14 cataphract units, and I don't know how I'm going to fight them) Against the faction that probably has the most number of ten-star generals ingame, and possibly one of the badass bodyguard units.

*settles back into drunken stupor after all those drinks*

'm a martini person alright, I got a bottle'f martini in my fridge at all times...

Breaking news - 1st April:

An unidentified lone man dressed in antique Roman armor was seen running wildly in the vicinity of the White house. He was also observed to be shouting garbage in some ancient tongue, and was waving a gladius wildly at the sky. A terrified historian passing by understood the man to be saying "I am the Imperator! I have come to demand your land!" in old Latin.

The Roman legionaire was subsequently hewn down by machine gun fire.

You're prolly living in the only country that you shouldn't reveal you live there. I mean, saying "I live in Portugal" most people who want to abduct me have no clue where in Portugal do I live. But...you. You certainly live in the city of Singapore in Singapore! It's much easier to get yourself kidnapped by Anti-LS NGO's... I'd buy some bodyguards and a LS for yourself if I was you!

I was more looking forward to seeing how quickly it put me on my back, d00d. Remember, one caipirinha and I already start having hand-eye coordination issues. :D

@Jolt.

Singapore has 4+ million people squashed into 670 square kilometres. That's a population density of something like 5-6000 people per sq km, a density not commonly found even in New York or the slums of New Delhi and Manila. Trying finding me in that. :D And yes, you can find me, but if you want my LS, I say unto thee: Molon Labe.

I don't need LSes. I manufacture them. :D

Yo is dat Rum u drinkin, the kind of rum they make in Jamaica that's so strong they cant measure the strength, so it just says "OVERPROOF" on the bottle?

I drank like 3 shots of that once and i was HAMMERED. Like, "i cant move off of the couch" hammered.

it was superdooper strong, almost like i was drinkin battery acid (ok ok i'm exaggerating, but still)

if it is , ur either crazy, or u a BAD MON!!!!!

I am from North Plainfield which is in Somerset county. Also rum is an acquired taste, usually we put just a dash of rum on grilled chicken hence getting used to the flavor and taste.

I voted today. State elections.

Supreme Court.
Appeals Court.
Some other Court.
School Board.
A constitutional amendment about partial vetos.
A referendum about giving the school district extra money to waste.

I voted for the constructionist for the Supreme Court.
The least activist for the Appeals Court.
The other court was uncontested.
School board...is complicated.
Voted yes to ban partial vetos.
Voted no to giving the schools more money to waste.

As for school board...you vote for three out of five candidates. None think that schools should be at all responsible with the tax payer's money, so I wrote in my own candidates. "Cthulhu". "Yog-Sothoth". "Shub-Niggurath".

One of my favorites is:

Christianity finally became official after the Emperor Constantine's famous Decree of Consternation. Constantine became a Christian himself after being persued by a neon cross on the battlefield. The entire city of Constantinople rose up with a tremendous ejaculation every time the emperor came.
