university and compass

When do I gain access to both of these? I have a catheral already so I'm guessing the university needs a certain date to come into play. The compass, I don't have any clue on. Only gunpowder at 1260 is listed in the tech tree.

Also, the dismount/remount option on my feudal knights is greyed out. How do I use it?

grr - Feudal knights things is a bug in all proabability (another one i thought they fixed) - they should dismount to Feudal foot Knights.

University you have to build in the province with the cathedral, if i remember correctly it needs a fortress and all the previous upgrades to special buildings (constables palace etc etc)

Compass and compass rose etc are game events - cant remember the year sorry... the building descriptors only say you need compass for certaina dvanced ship-building buildings but you also need gunpowder so youc an build cannon foundries (et al) - as those higher ship types all use cannons.

It says citadel in the tech tree. At least 3/4 of the box is in citadel.

Could be citadel andrewlt - tyring to remember off the top of my head im afraid.

The prerequisites are the cathedral and the prior "special buildings" that grant titles.

The final three are university, colledge of Surgeons and Academy (again, if i remember correctly)
