I downloaded ProcMon today to help me solve the riddle why EB keeps crashing on/just before menu-screen on my pc.

Here are the last few lines from the report (as Tellos says in his guide I should post)

642370 12:44:27,3448538 RomeTW.exe 3524 CreateFile C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War SUCCESS Desired Access: Read Attributes, Synchronize, Disposition: Open, Options: Directory, Synchronous IO Non-Alert, Attributes: n/a, ShareMode: Read, Write, Delete, AllocationSize: n/a, OpenResult: Opened

642371 12:44:27,3449153 RomeTW.exe 3524 QueryDirectory C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\RomeTW.exe SUCCESS Filter: RomeTW.exe, 1: RomeTW.exe

642372 12:44:27,3449764 RomeTW.exe 3524 CloseFile C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War SUCCESS

642374 12:44:27,3450982 RomeTW.exe 3524 Process Exit SUCCESS Exit Status: -1073741819, User Time: 43.2656250, Kernel Time: 26.7187500

________

I must also note that in the report it says quite often "NO SUCH FILE" "PATH NOT FOUND"

some examples :

638003 12:44:23,9087869 RomeTW.exe 3524 CreateFile C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\data\ui\eastern\buildings\construction\ PATH NOT FOUND Desired Access: Read Data/List Directory, Synchronize, Disposition: Open, Options: Directory, Synchronous IO Non-Alert, Attributes: n/a, ShareMode: Read, Write, AllocationSize: n/a

638004 12:44:23,9089132 RomeTW.exe 3524 CreateFile C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\data\ui\eastern\buildings\construction\ PATH NOT FOUND Desired Access: Read Data/List Directory, Synchronize, Disposition: Open, Options: Directory, Synchronous IO Non-Alert, Attributes: n/a, ShareMode: Read, Write, AllocationSize: n/a

637587 12:44:23,6528935 RomeTW.exe 3524 QueryDirectory C:\Program Files\The Creative Assembly\Rome - Total War\EB\Data\UI\ROMAN\BUILDINGS\#roman_city_barracks_Y1_constructed.tga NO SUCH FILE Filter: #roman_city_barracks_Y1_constructed.tga

I hope someone can get something out of this...

Thank you in advance.

Sorry, no. It just says that it's closing the executable file, which is the last thing to happen before it's done crashing.

About the PATH NOT FOUNDs, this is likely the way modding in RTW works: It will try to find the modded file, then if it's not there it will use the vanilla file instead.

If you want me to elaborate on the ProcMon report, just let me now what you want to know.

Those "NO SUCH FILE" "PATH NOT FOUND" were all to do with the UI\...\buildings

I think it's easier if you just upload the log somewhere and post the link here so we can take a look.

But it's usually easier to try to reinstall from scratch, RTW 1.5 vanilla, then EB. It fixes it for most people.

I've redownloaded EB 0.81av2 like 5 times and reinstalled RTW from scratch like 10 times... The problem must lie somewhere else (unless it was a bad download or bad install each time, but chances are slim)

Where can I upload the log?

Should be good sometime during those tries, yes :laugh4:. You can upload it to your favourite hosting service, rapidshare, axifile or whatever.

Bovi,

Just wondering

Why don't you tell him in this case to use fastsum??

Because it's highly unlikely that he's got a corrupt download 5 times.

Certainly because EB literally is the only mod I cannot get to work
(it's always download EB, install EB, get frustrated, delete all, try other mod, think about EB, reinstall RWT, download EB, install EB, get frustrated,...)

Please get me out of this vicious circle!

Anyone? ^^

don't want to post again so :

You can say you can't find anything or you can say you don't have any time to look, to which I'll say in both cases that I understand.

But ignoring someone who askes help...
