Original MTW mod for Medieval Era?? Aragonese required

Hello all guys!!

I decided to take a look to MTW, but playing as the Aragonese ( my country ), as the Vainilla MTW2 didn't let you play as the aragonese and the mods are still a bit far, I will use the original MTW if exist a mod that let you play as the aragonese and the same time improving a bit the game ala Rome Total realism, or Europa Barbarorum for MTW.

In M:TW, with the Viking Invasion expantion pack, the Aragonese are already playable from the start - no modding is required to begin playing with them.

Without the Viking Invasion expantion pack, however, the Aragonese are, most unfortunately, an unplayable faction. You can mod them to be played though, but if you desire easy access to the faction, the expansion pack is essential.

If you do choose to buy Viking Invasion you can find many modifications for it here (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=40). The most popular mods are XL (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=31201) and BKB's Super Mod (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=30858), which add new factions, units and provinces to the original game. M:TW alone isn't compatible with the majority of the mods, so, if you wish to play them, the expansion is necessary.

Although not as popular as XL or BKB's Super Mod there is also the MedMod IV by Wes Whitaker.

In terms of campaign improvements it is the most in depth work IMO and it comes close to an EB-ish mod for MTW.

XL is way too close to vanilla for my taste.

Forgot to add that there is a version of the MedMod in the links that will work with MTW without VI i think.

I decided to install both mods and also give a try to the less popular MedModIV, anyone know If I have to install over a clean install of VI, or I need to update it? If yes, what patch I need and where can I found it??

You do not need any patch as long as your MTW/VI version is 2.01. If you have bought MTW & VI separately that is enough (you can check the version on the upper left corner of the main menu). You need a patch to get to 2.01 ONLY if you have the GOLD edition, NOT from "eras" (bought individually). (Here is the patch that you need for GOLD edition bought individually ONLY http://downloads.sega-europe.com/patch/med_tw/Medieval_TW.exe)

If you're looking for a R:TR or EB for MTW MedMod is definitly the one to go with. The MedMod is what introduced homelands to the TW series, and focuses on improved AI/difficulty as well as historical accuracy. The only issues is I think is MedModIV doesn't have a late campaign, but its still playable. If that bugs you I can find MedMod3.04, which is complete just lacking the new features of MedModIV.
