View Full Version : So whats everybody\'s favorite faction in campaign?

Might be to early to ask this, but I know most who have the game have done at least 50 years of a campaign.
Mine is The Turks they are put in a unique situation at the start of the game pinned between to strong powers(Byzantines and Egypt), so expand fast or suffer. The feigned retreats and other nomad tactics really work as intended and they have a nice variety of cavalry.
I've also played The Danes starting in early era, but they are not to exciting I've already quit that one.

why ask when 3/4 of the world don't have the game yet?

Im seriously getting sick of these "Weve got the game and you dont, ha!" threads the yanks are posting...
I mean one or two, fair enough, but ive read so many of them its really starting to get on my nerves...
They arent trying to annoy us on purpose (at least theyd better not be), but you still cant help but feel annoyed...
Guys, give it a rest! like barocca said, the vast proportion of MTW players dont even have the damn game!

Bodyguard and yes they are not in game
yet ,so the yanks don't have'em yet, he he.

What, so the American guys should not post anything about the game cause you guys don't have the game yet?
I hear more bitching from people not having the game,

Each campaign takes so long to play I can't see how anyone can have tried enough factions to have a favorite yet.

I've only played the Danes and the Egyptians
and havent finished with either yet.
I haven't got a fav. yet.
Favorite? Are you kidding me? I've been playing almost nonstop since Wednesday afternoon before classes start on Monday and I'm only approaching 100 turns. Shogun I could finish in 2-3 days but this game is really long.
Well the two things I want out of a faction is acesss to a lot of unique units, and moderate or greater difficulty on the early era.
So that leaves me England (5 unique units once they conquer the British isles.) and Turkey.
Almohads and Byzantium have lots of unique units but are easy.
Anyone know of anyway other factions which fit my criteria?
HRE. They get around 3 unique units from Switzerland and have a few units they only share with 1-2 other factions. They are moderate.

At least you yanks are being educated about europes history and the fact that compared to us your history is minute.
it is the formation of europe in a way, and yes you americans thats where you come from, europe (but you speak english for some strange reason).

I used England first because of its remote location. You have to rush to ships. England has really sucky farmland so until you conquer some provinces in Spain or France and even after you do it, trade will still be your largest source of income. The best provinces to attack after you've secured the mainland are still the rebel provinces north of Denmark and west of Muscovy.

they got that wrong englands farming in the medieval ages was its highlight aswell as the wool trade and very well trained armys (although they werent that big)

Yep, Britains farms were very important in those days amd provided for alot. Oh well luckily i wont be england anyway! byzantines for me i think.

I didn't think that was boasting. I was just curious what everyone's favortite faction in the campaign. I probably should have waited a few weeks for that one since most don't have the game so sorry.
Most of England's provinces have wool as a trade resource. They have less choices and don't have the powerful cavalry France, HRE, Italians and Spanish have but the billmen and longbowmen more than make up for it. The billmen are cheap, almost as powerful as chivalric men-at-arms but have a bonus against cavalry. You'll never want to build chivalric sergeants as the English.
