I am trying to mod Kingdoms (just to change a few unit stats, nothing fancy) but every time I try and use the unpacker I get the message:

"This application has failed to start because MSVCP71.dll was not found.
Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

I naturally uninstalled and reinstalled M2 and kingdoms (twice. Ugh.) But I am still getting the same message. :inquisitive:

I going to go insane. Can anyone help?

Try to copy said file from the M2TW directory to the unpacker directory.
Some people report problems with this, nobody really knows what causes it but somehow the pathing seems to be screwed up.

Alpaca my good ungulate , could you tell me if running the unpacker will overwright any modded .txt files in the origonal M2TW ?

I'll need to do some modding of the Americas campaign atleast given none of the starting family members of any faction in it have any loyalty at all , which cannot be deliberate . I would of course prefer to know of potential headaches in this process before hand if possible .

Thankyou in advance oh wise Camelid , may you neck always be erect and your pelt luxuriant .

Edit : is it me , or did the spellchecker have a very poor education ?
It's vocabulary is sadly limited .

I don't know about the kingdoms campaigns but if you unpack the normal game, yes it'll overwrite anything that is in the packs.
Just do a backup beforehand and you should be fine.

Mr. Frost

Greetings, oh purveyor of thermally challenged particulates.

Did you figure out how to get Kingdoms to the autopsy table and do you have any advice for a modding nube who would love to mess with the murky skies and restore some of the sunny days we can all recall from the halcyon times of vanilla games ....might we call them vanilla skies?

Yes, we may.

Since I have found that no matter what one does to the globallighting files, why, without unpacking the rest of the files, no amount of messing with the guts gives effective relief from the, shall I say "frosty" skies.

No offence intended, Mr. Frost. I am just trying to get some days in battle where the bright skies restore the colors I need to see details on the DLP projector I use whilst fighting the good fight.

Since I am new to this game and have done only some modest non-unpacked modding of M2TW, can you tell me if Kingdoms prestents a different set of rules than the modding of the earlier games. I understand that a config file is needed as well as something do do with -io file prefixes. But that is my hazy best understanding.

Any help here?
