View Full Version : Trading post problems

I've noticed that I cannot build a trading post in some of my provinces. I did Read The Fine Manual, but could only find something which implied that provinces without a coastline couldn't build them. Some of the provinces where I'm having this trouble even have ports already & the only prerequisite shown on the tech tree is a fort.
Am I overlooking something else?

Actually what is says is that you can build them, but it will only be local trade, not with other provinces (essentially it would be a pointless waste to build them).
Actually, inland trade is not that worthless. The first trade building costs around 800 florins and if a province has around 2 trade valuables, you get around 40-50 a year which is comparable to that of mines and farmland in most locations. A trading post in all provinces with 2-3 trade valuables is not that bad since most of these provinces have sea routes anyway.
If a provinces has no trade valuables, no trading post can be made.

gabriel,
you have to have 'trade goods' in the province before you can build a merchant there. if you right click on a province you'll see a listing of the province and at the top of this are listed the 'resources' and 'trade goods'. resources are for internal use, trade goods can be traded externally.
