How can I get Armoured African Bush Elephants for the Ptolemaioi? They could get them from the edu-file and the edb-file. But you need seemingly a Level 2 government and in the southern provinces (Meroe, Axum) only a Level 3 government is available, so I get only unarmoured elephants. Shall the Ptolemaioi don't have access to armoured beasts? They have already not the very best successor units...

Well, now that the skins have been made (and will be in the next release) and look like what they are supposed to, I can tell you there are no armored African elephants. There are, however towered and untowered elephants. For the Ptolemaioi, the two different types of elephants are in different MICs. One in the regional, one in the factional. I think it is L3MIC, for both. I've wondered, myself, why they are setup this way...

Sometimes I get soooo confused....troops that you would think are regionals, like Samnite Infantry for Rome, or Indian Elephants for Baktria, are in the factional mic....shouldn't they be regionals?

Unit recruitment is being addressed - it might not be in the next release but definitely the one after that.

There are always units that will break this rule. The samnites are in the factional MIC because by the time the romans had moved to the marian reforms there were not samnites, they had been turned into romans. As we can't have regional MIC reforms, they have to be in the factional MIC.

That Samnite fix is a nice solution.

I'm playing Pontus now and I've found I can build Galatikoi Kuarothoroi in my FMIC in Kappadocia Pontica and my RMIC in Galatia. There are differences of course, +1/-1 Morale due to the type of government ( (I and IV respectively).

I expect the same is true for the Galatikoi Lavotuxri, although I'm 15 turns off finding out as I type.

It seems to me like a smart way to handle troop availability. I took type IV in Galatia for the Naked Guys unit, but I'm still getting my factions elite Gallic units albeit weaker versions.

Could this be extended to a selection of suitable units for any faction? Its a lot of extra work I suppose, just to gild an already very beautiful lily.

It would mean players don't have to play "MIC-roullette". As the Iberians I was juggling my FMIC's and RMIC's in Gaul to get the right mix of units, and more than once I knocked over my provincial government just to find out what I'd get for one more level in one MIC or the other.

Poor Ptolemaioi. I think you are historically right but's a pity. Then I have to stick with Epeiros, unarmoured elephants are way to sensible for me. I hope Epeiros will keep the armoured Indian ones in the next release?

Otherwise...:sweatdrop:

Well, Epieros has Indian Elephants, for which there is an armored variety.

The four elephants in EB are untowered (African) Forest Elephant - from Numidia & Nubia; towered (African) Bush Elephant - from Nubia; (towered) Indian Elephant - from India (and couple special capitals); and (towered) Armored Indian Elephant - from India (and special capitals).
