I've run across a number of Seleukid family members with the last name of Ioudaikou. Does that mean "of Judea?" And if so, does that mean he's Jewish? It would be really interesting to see the Kingdom of Syria change over into the Kingdom of Israel (depending on family member succession).
Thanks

Just means of that region. Doesn't imply anything further than that he was born there/lives there. One can roleplay what they like though in the situation.

Outta curiosity, weren't the Herodians who ruled that region for a brief while leftover Hellenistic aristocracy ?

I know they weren't Jewish.I knew that much too - it apparently didn't particularly help their popularity either.

I know they weren't Jewish.
Are you sure?

I know that just because wikipedia says it, doesn't mean it's gospel, but I always thought Herod was Jewish.

The page doesn't exactly state that the Herodians were Jewish, but merely that they were of Edomite and Samaritan descent. They were most probably integrated into Jewish society, though.

They weren't Jewish. That's why the Jews didn't like them all that much and why Herod tried to win over the Jews by rebuilding 'The Temple'. I used to know where the Herods were from, but it escapes me right now.
