OK - the AI enjoys murder, that's for sure! My question is whether you can ever see the assassins of the AI. I have towers/emissaries/assassins in my provinces, and I can't see the assassins (of course, this makes perfect sense since assassins don't go about waving huge bloody flags). Is it ever possible to see what they are doing/where they are going?

nope. just your own. only way to find the ai assassins is when you kill them. would you want the ai to see where yours are? i suppose one could pull a ploy or distraction by having one's agents in the open, but that's a bit more detail than the game is ready to go into yet.
you can sort of spot them by having one of your guys die. that at least tells you where they are for that turn, but that's about it.

The only absolute is that there are no absolutes.
Vanya loves the sound/image of the captured agent being whipped. Its music to His ears!

The AI seems to concentrate on certain provinces, though not exclusively of course. After I lost several priests in Khazar, I parked a spy in the province. I kill an assassin there about every fourth turn, & my spy has a valor of 3 stars already. He's almost ready to hit the big time in foreign territory so I can pump up another spy.

Sounds like a Clint Eastwood flick, Josie Wales I think. "Not a hard man to follow, leaves a trail of dead men where ever he goes."

Tis like in STW.
Every now and then you saw the camera move across the board from one province to another and yet nothing visible moved.
Dunno if MTW does it also.

In STW it was typical to have at least one shinobi (spy) in every province to counteract assassins and improve loyalty to stop revolts.
IMDO have at least one spy per province and see if that resolves things.
