I'm playing Fourth Age: Total War, so I'm not sure if this is a mod related bug, or something in BI that just happened randomly, but it was so funny when it happened that I just had to show it.

You might be thinking "What's so odd about that? Some men were hit by fire, like a catapult or arrows."

You'd be way off. What happened was that when my men ran over this specific spot, a certain percentage of the unit just burst into flames and died. The amount of men I lost was relative to the unit size. For example, I lose approximately fifteen to twenty men from the archer units (one of which is highlighted), and about three to six from my Knights of Dol Amroth.

Hilarious, and I'm sure it won't lose me this battle, which is still in progress. I just found it amusing.

EDIT: Battle won, heroic victory, etc., etc.

Some kind of "One Power" nexus?

Has anyone had anything similar to this before?

Never seen before. Either a geysir or a tactical spell hit you. :laugh4:

Never seen anything like that in BI (or the BI mod 'End of Days')

Perhaps a town building has a wall tower in it that fires fire arrows?

Ive regulary seen my troops stop to fight a dead enemy. Its as if the spirit lingers and fights on. Perhaps that effect you see is the spirit of some ranged fire missile...constantly attacking any who pass. A bug in the code that forgets to turn off an attack?
