The Seven Years War

A new Kraxis Style IH based upon Two Campaigns of the Seven Years War. The Chapters will be divided into two sections each covering the basics of Army Movements, etc. It shall not be a Heavy RP Type Play like my previous Kraxis Style IH, but just movement of Armies and stuff.

The First Campaign
The European Campaigns
http://www.lib.utexas.edu/maps/historical/british_dominions_yearbook/prussia_map4_1815.jpg
From this Campaign you shall be a Prussian General. You command at least one small Army. The decisions are based upon you, and even though occasional Orders and Requests are sent through by Frederick the II, you lead your Army.

The Campaign starts off with you, Friedrich von Heidlburg, leading the Invasion of Silesia. Much is set upon these coming battles, if you lose then Austira and Sweden shall send armies straight to the Prussian Homelands, the British shall withdraw support and the Hanoverians shall be struck down easily. You win, where to then?

Second Campaign
The North American Campaign

Its 1756, the Seven Years War has just started in Europe, but a heavy war has been fought in North America for the past two Years. Britain has been fighting, with Native support, against the Americans and French. The battles are just as fearsome as the European Ones.

This time you are a British Major. It is your job not only to command the battalion, but to deal with its daily chores. Assign Officers, replace soldiers, recruit men. All up to you. You may not get the choice of moving your Regiment, which is made by the Field Marshall, but you get the choice of everything else.

Your name is James Lilliard. Your a Colonel and command the very best Regiment in the British Army, In North America, The First Regiment of Foot, also known as the Royal Regiment. Shall you lead these Red and Blue coated men to victory? Or a disastorous retreat?

Expect the Chapter today. I shall try and keep this first post up to date with new chapter infomation. If you have any questions, please ask.

I shall choose the winning choices with the set majority of votes. You may change your mind only three times. Think wisely and quickly, as the enemy shall not be giving you Merci.

Chapter I
The North American Front

Your James Lilliard. You command a Regiment of Scotsmen, all Highlanders. Your respected, you think, and bought the Comission in London. Your family is rich, your Father a Count, he claims he fought in the War of Spanish Succesion. But all that is the past, all that gone.

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/23/Rylscots.gif
The Regiment is made up of Two Battalions. The Royal Scots as one. It used to be French, then Swedeish, and now British. The Officers are good men, as are theirs soldiers. Their nickname is Pontius Pilates Bodyguard. THere the finest Battalion in service of the British Army, and are the oldest Infantry Regiment in the British Army. They are willing to fight for you, to take musket shots for you. Only if you serve them well enough.

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/5/53/KOSB.JPG
The second Battalion is the King's Own Scottish Borderers as the second. They wear a Tartan as their insignia, and have been around since the 17th Century. They've fought in Minden, in Blenheim. These soldiers though, need persuading that you are a worthy Commander. Be careful of these ones, as a bullet may come from them, not the enemy.

It is March, 1757. The Regiment is stationed in Fort William Henry. The Fort is a major stopping point, and good for inland raids on the French. The French though, have been suspected of moving towards this Fort. You are stationed inside of it, and the 35th Regiment of Foot and some several milita raised around the countryside. The total number is 2 500 men.

Lieutenant-Colonel George Monro leads the garrison, and is almost certian of a French Siege, you have been ordered to prepare the Regiument the best you can. This invovles any sort of preparing trenches or traps, or preparing your troops with extra ammunition. All of these supplys must be ordered soon, as New York shall be cut off from you as soon as your sieged. The Fort is placed alongside the Lake George.

The Colonel also adds to you in his letter 'the loss of Fort William Henry will be a severe blow to British war strategy and would preclude any attempt towards Montreal for the remainder of the year. Thus, by 1758, three years of bitter campaigning by the British will have gained almost no territorial gains against New France.'

The troops are fresh, but the Royal Scots are lacking several troopers due to their previous campaign of Fort Bull. The Musket Stock is coming to a low. What shall you do?

1. The cases of setting up defense around the Fort. There are many options, but we only have the equipment for some. We have 200 pieaces of wood, 100 pieces of stone and some bricks. We have shovels for all and some more.

A)Buld a Trench around the Front. The trench would be at least 20m deep but would take a lot of time. You could also plant stakes in it but this would cost 50 pieces of wood.

B)Build some sort of second Portable Stockade. This will cost 100 pieces of wood per one. THis can be placed where breaches are made.

C)Some stone could be used for dropping upon the charging enemy, but this is a main cannon and musket job. (50 Stone)

2.The Royal Scots are down on men. They might need the men for the upcoming battle, and this may be quite needed.

A)Recruit the 23 Soldiers now. This will cost 100 Guneias out of your pocket of 5000 Guneias.

B) Recruit them after a battle, this may cost more.

3. THe issue of Musket Balls and Powder. Your stock is only half way, and are needed. Place your oder from New York.

A)Request the stocks to be topped up to full. Will cost 100 Guneias.

B) Top it another quarter. 50 Guneias.

C) Do not top it up.

Make your decision quick. Expect Prussian Section next Chapter.

Building trenches will help slow down the enemy advance and give the men cover. Also use stakes.

2.)A-23 men now is better than a not assured amount later.

3.)A- every man needs ammo.

Abandon Fort William Henry.
The French will no doubt bring in mortars, and then it won't matter how much money, guns, or weapons you have.

I say have your men withdraw to Albany to re-fit and restock your weapons, along with recruitment.

The North American Front
Chapter 2

The slow construction of the trenches has begun. You have orders the Royal Scots and King's Own Scottish Borderers to dig on the Eastern and Western Side of the Fort. The 35th Has been ordered to begin digging to South Part of the Fort. The Northern Part is Lake George. THe Militia has been sent off to New York to collect the Reinforcements to the Regiments and retreive the Musket Wagons. Some American Troops under General Webb are rumored to be massing to come to the Fort if they are under siege.

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/2/22/Plan_of_Fort_William_Henry_on_Lake_George.jpg

The French though have a major move. They have massed at least 3 000 of their own troops and 1 200 Natives and are waiting. They are being stocked up with Musket Balls and the likes. SO far there has been two reported Cannons.

The Sergeants have taken the Kings Own Scottish Borderers and gone through some practice marching over the hillsides. Accompanying them were some Scouts mapping the area, they have provided a map for you and other Colonels and hope it serves you well. (Shown Above)

General Webb, though rumored to be moving, still has to make his mind, and Monroe is getting impatient. He has said to you "If Webb does not move soon, he may be too late. The Lake shall certianly be cut off. If we lose the Fort, New York is on under threat." The troops have been reported to be rather down with the amount of enemy troops, but whn asked seem eager for battle.

Later on, when digging outside the trenches, now 5 m deep, the New Hampshire Provincial Regiment arrived, reinforcements for the Fort. When asked though, they said they had not been sent by General Webb. Consisting of the group was Rogers Rangers, a so called named group for there reputation and COmmanders. THeir commander is Major Robert Roger. The troops were outstanding during the Battle of Great Meadows and a good Riflemen Company.

This is a picture of Robert Rogers.

1. General Webb. His mind is unmade, and a man who makes no decisions is more dangerous then one who makes a wrong one.

A)You could at least send him a letter underlineing what you want and need. (How many Regiments is up to you, just remeber the Defense of new York is strongly neded)

B)Tell the New Jersey Milita to force him to make some Regiments come.

C)DO nothing)

2.Rogers Rangers. A good Rfileman group and very good scouters. Where and how is their help needed? You should put their good reputation to use.

First of all, we need Roger's Rangers to find the French column, and give us their number and bearing, while using their rifles and marksmanship skills to assassinate French officers. If at all possible, try to get behind the French lines and destroy their two cannon, so that they can't lay siege to the fort.

Meanwhile, B), force is better than asking nicely in cases like these.

The North American Front
Chapter 3

The work on the trenches continues, now some 15m deep. It is 1757, June the 26th. News of the French has spread quickly, with rumors of attacks passing Fort Henry and attacking New York Colony. The Militia has finnaly arrived, bringing with them many wagons of musket balls and powder.

THe Royal Scots Battalion is finnaly at full strength again. Both them and The Kings Own Scottish Borderers Battalion have full stocks of ammo and powder. THe only problem is the defenses.

From previous provided maps, there are many straergies you could take. The Northern Side of the Fort could be left undefended, but there is a chance they could try to sabotage it from there. The Natives are skilled at walking the lakes and rivers of the area. There are two lakes to the South East which will proably make the enemy bunch towards the Fort, good killing targets. But there is the problem of the Island in the middle, should you station troops there?

There is a dip to the south and the west is flat plains. Monroe has plans, and seeing as you and Major Roger are ther only High Ranked Officers he details his plans to you. Monroe wishes to station troops across the rivers and where the hills are, behidn it.
"If the French mach there, which is highly likely, we can fight them back. If we are defeated there a quick and sturdy retreat can be covered by a Battalion. Preferably yours Colonel Lilliard." He then wishes to hold out in the Fort. Monroe values your view, what is your plans?

Rogers Rangers are sent off at once, and scout the countryside of new York Colony. After a few days, a Rifleman reports they encountered the main French Army quite easily.

There is 6 000 French Regular Soldiers, all equipped for comabt and stocked up. There has been no other sighted troops other then the Native American Allies who have so far be seen to have provided 500 Troops.

After some quick firing between some French Scouts and the Riflemen, they return to base with two wounded and reported killed three French Troops. The French army is heading towards Fort henry fast, and can be expected in August the 10th. It is August the 4th.

On August the 5th some 5 Sloops arivved on Lake George. THey carried supplies for a long siege and two 32 Pounders. There spot shall be needed. THe Sloops ported away from the Fort to avoid any Battle Damage but close enough to know of any trouble. They can evcuate some troops if needed.

Early morning, 6th of August. Some 1 000 Native American Troops appeared to the South West of the Fort. 2 Battalions of French Troops are also nearing.

1.Your stratergy. What is it? Monroe values your views and wants your ideas, and you need to state your views soon, as the French Soldiers are coming fast.

A)Follow Monroe's Idea.

B)Tell him your idea (Which is...? Post what it is)

2.Where the troops are to camp. The Fort may be overcrowed which means more troops easily killed. Maybe some camps should be made outside the Fort?

3.The 32 Pounders. Where shall you place these valuable guns? What side of the Fort, and with what Battalion? Royal Scots of KOSB?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The European Front
You are Friedrich von Heidlburg, a General in the Prussian Army of 1756. You lead one Field Army, it has its own HQ, and is made up of Two Corps. You are the Prussian II. Army.
The Army was briefly commanded by your King Frederick the II. He won the Battle of Lobositz with this Army, and Silesia is now Prussian. After months of waiting it is now 1757, a year since Lobositz. Russia, Austria and all other European Nations are at war with Prussia, except Britain.
As of now the Army is not at full strength. There is only 1 Disvision of the I. Corps of the Army, and even the Division is not at full power with only 16 000 men. Its total numbers is 20 000. Your Army is 80 000 strong, all taken by Frederick for his main task of siegeing Prague.
Which is where your heading. Right now you just entered Bohemia, and are heading towards its capital Prague. The Austrians though are coming ever closer. It is rumored Count Konigsegg is leading his Division to intercept you. Frederick at the same time urges you to speed up your march as the City of a Hundred Spires is waiting for its Prussian Victors.
It is set, the Army has set up near Reichenburg, the Austrians are coming, and the War in Europe has truly begun with the Second Battle of the Silesian Wars.
There are no decisions for the European THeater this time, merely a intro. :grin3: But there shall be a more detailed one next time. And maps.
Throw a few camouflaged fire trenches and foxholes up outside of the fort, have a few men delay the marching French column with ambush fire while the main (at least a regiment or two) body of men flanks them.
Post sentries and a couple of ranger guards up near the lake. Have said sentries wear buckskin and cover themselves in mud and leaves, same as the rangers. Have a few companies in reserve to repel any Indian attack.
Keep sentries and night patrol around, in order to prevent Indian infiltration of our lines. Meanwhile, have the Rangers map out possible approaches to the fort, and decent ambush positions for each approach route.
The North American Front
Chapter 4
It is 1757, August the 7th. The French are finnaly fileing onto the battlefield. The Army of 6 000 men is paraded to show its whole glory, with the Commander Marquis de Montcalm, a French General from the French Fort Carillion.
But while this parade is happening, you put your plans to action. With Rogers Rangers out front, waiting for the French, the New Hampshire Regiment and 35th file out of the Fort, where psying French eyes can not see them, and set up for a flanking move.
Montcalm send forward Two Regiments, 1 000 men to scout the forward positions., He seems to be prepared for some sort of 'reception'. As the Two Regiments approach, Rogers Rangers open fire fromsome 400 Yards away, the maximun range of a Rifle. The Regiments deploy, thinking of a Musket Enemy Regiment, and are continously picked off. They fire off rounds in the direction of the Rifleman, but only 10 men are hitting, and only 2 dead while the enemy loses at leat 50. The Musketmen retreat.
Montcalm, thinking of massed enemy, sends forth the group of 500 Natives. After approaching at a range, and losing 4 men, the Natives deduce that the enemy is not within 50 Yards. Montcalm then, firgures, that it must be Riflemen. THus, he sends forth the 2 Regiments again at rapid speed with Bayonets and the Rangers are dismantled and retreat backwards to a better position.
THe enemy waits a while, and the first cannon fires. Your 32 Pounder fires from the Fort Walls and hits a squad of French men carrying its wounded from the field, killing all and causing at least 20 dead.
And at this time a unexpected development in the battle occurs. While the 35th and NH Regiment try to flank the French, they run into some Native Americans, fighting for the French. But it is no measly force of 500, but some 1 100, not including the others sighted. THis makes the total French force 7 600 strong compared to your 2 500. The troopps withdraw rapidly with losses of at least 100 men. They withdraw to the trenches.
Rogers Rangers wait, and after some time some Canadian French Troops appear at the end of the raod. The Rifleman fire, while the enemy has to be within 50 Yards. THus the run, advancing, but they didn't count that the Rangers would run backwards while firing. Eventually though the Rangers were cornered and a Firefight was doomed to happen, but the Rangers split up into two groups and fired upon the French from two sides. Thuss, they retreated with at least 200 men wounded or dead compared to 30 dead.
The French set up camp to the Far East, while they set up 4 12 Pounders on the hill and started bombarding the Fort. The 32 Pounders returned fire. Both sides have suffered wounded and dead.
Soon it is night, and the air is still being rent apart by Cannon FIre and its loud boom. One of the Batteries pause every now and then for the barrel to cool, then start firing until they can not see where they are firing at. meanwhile, Rogers Rangers, who have set up camp at the front of Fort henry, have divided into small groups and camoflagued themselves to blend into the forest. They encounter no one.
At 4 AM the next day, the Battle is reopened with firing shots from Rogers Rangers. They have spotted a Party of Native Americans. The Americans though did not pause and kept heading towards the Fort. Then a 32 Pounder opened fire, and they were gone. Except at least 3 mdn out of 20 who limped back to base. The second 32 Pounder opened fire across the Lake where some French were attempting to attack the Sloops, but they were put into confusion and routed back to base.
All of the Regiments went to Guard Duty and were ready for attack, and soon the French Cannons did a opening salvo. The French Army approached, divided into small groups. THey came from the East and West of the Fort. A 32 Pounder fired upon them, this time loading with Grapeshot and scattered several parties to the cheers of the British.
And then they came, the defenders fired and fired until theirs Brown Bess Muskets blew up or overheated, and the enemy kept coming and coming with 300 Scaling Ladders, THey fired all day, and even got past the trenches until they retreated at 9 PM that night. A full 12 HOurs fighting.
You lost about 950 men while they lost at least 1 500.
1. You have fought off the first Attack, but what of the second. Isthere anymore fortifacations you which to construct overnight?
2.Any attacks? Maybe you wish to attack their base with the Rangers?
Ranger casualties seem light. However, I have taken nearly 40% casualties, while the enemy has taken only 20% casualties. Have my men dig some communications trenches between the forward and rear trenches for ease of retreat, but try not to expend too effort as they need to rest for the brutal combat that will take place the next day. Tell my men to prepare for glory, fix their bayonets, and sharpen their hatchets. If the French reach our lines when charging forward, engage them in hand to hand combat.
Meanwhile, have the rangers sneak through the woods and try to take out the French's cannons, so that they're forced to come within firing range of our troops.
as stated send out about half of the light troops to go and hound the enemy cannons and flanks, however, i suggest abandoning the first trench after building a single trench that connects them, The inner trench will be heavily manned and connecting trench will be blocked off by one of our 32 pounders to be used at close range to cut down any French troops that attempt to use it to more forward. Also if there is enough time and powder, perhaps mine some areas of the outer trench to blow when French troops arrive killing some in the explosion and depriving them of the Trench to be used. Most importantly, however, avoid casualties at all costs. At this point men are more valuable then powder and territory being that the enemy has us vastly outnumbered. Use as much cover as possible and the cannons as close support
I have decided to take this IH in a new direction. From now on, you choose a nation and play. It will still be divided into fronts, though there are way more now, like Asian Front and African Front.
Rules are to be posted, this is now a Multiplayer IH, so choose your nation to play as.
Rules:
Use this thread to make announcements. Things such as propaganda, declarintions of diplomacy and threats against other nations, or bribes.
-You may attempt to bribe other Generals. A list of Major Generals shall be posted in every chapter, you mar bribe, attmept to assasainate and the likes. This can not be done with Leaders.
-Diplomacy is by PM to each other, then declare it here. Any nations not player controlled, then send a PM to me with the Diplomacy.
-If the Capital of any German States (Prussia, Austria, Saxony, Hanover) are conquered, the Leader sets up a Sub Capital in city of his/her choice. THis can also be Ally's Cities. You may set up Capital in Colonies. If Prussia's Capital is conquered, they may find themselves set up in London. If Austria's is conquered, they may find themselves in Rome.
-Austria and Prussia can not be allied together, France and Britain can not be allied together. The THirteen Colonies and Hanover are in Personal Union with Britain. THey may not go to war with Britain, or quit alliance. This is the same with ither Personal Union countries.
-Conquering Colonies is diffrent, to train Colonial Troops, you have to call a ship (or two) in from Europe. You may hire Natives. THis does not apply in the Americas.
-You may also send expeditiions places. These take a while, but may find land for you to colnise.
Introduction:
The year is 1756, the 14th of August. A state of war exsists in Europe, barely a decade since it was ruined by the last one. Frederick of Prussia invaded the Duchy of Saxony, and the combined forces of Saxony and Austria were defeated at Lobositz. The Empire forces have retreated deeper in Saxony, with the Saxon Government considering surrender. The Union of Great Britain has declared support for Prussia, and with its Colonies and Unions.
In North America, France and The Thirteen Colonies are already at war, as they have been for 2 years. Casualties are bad, and the French are siegeing Fort Henry in the New York Colony. Meanwhile in India, The Dutch East India Company, British East India Company and French East India Company are fighting it out, while the Mahrattas fight them off desperately.
This looked like a cool IH.
I would have to agree. Although Warluster is host and he can do anything he wants with it, I do say that his original idea of just making decisions is different from the other IH's and I think its great. But making it just another IH with a different storyline isn't really the best plan of action. Decisions are easy yo make and lets players give more of their opinions. Decisions are also quick, so more people are like to participate. Buts thats just my view, if Warluster continues with his current idea, I shotgun the Kingdom of France.
