Quick noob question

I'm planing on buying a new PC, so i can play MTWII. I was looking through the forums just to see the general opinion about the game and it's expansion Kingdoms. Now comes the question: what is Securom?, because i saw allot of posts from players that said that they are not gonna buy the expansion until securom is taking off?
