View Full Version : Do I need M2TW DVD to play Kingdoms?
Here's my problem: I moved recently, and lost my Med II DVD. So I can't play unless I a)find it or b) buy another - and I don't want to buy it again ;)
So I'm thinking of buying Kingdoms instead. Cheaper. My question, though: can I play the original M2TW with the Kingdoms CD in the drive? If not, I guess I can always just play Kingdoms instead.

Nope. You need the M2 DVD if you want to play vanilla
You must switch between the M2TW DVD and M2TW Kingdoms DVD each time you want to play the respective campaigns.
I find this totally ridiculous. This is an expansion, it is not like you can play or install it without the original game. Why do they insist on annoying their customers with this nonsense?
And then they wonder why some people resort to illegal methods to keep their DVDs safely stored in their boxes...
I love anti-piracy measures that don't affect pirates at all but are very inconvenient for paying customers. Are PC gaming companies trying to discourage or encourage piracy?

I agree, definitely a pain in the ass. I just picked up Kingdoms, so I suppose I'll be playing the expansion only unless I manage to find my original DVD somewhere.
If I don't, I'm just going to download the crack. Having paid for the game once, I'm not paying again =\
*Ahem* Let's not go there.
Regardless of the reasons behind it, statements about intent to commit piracy/copyright violations are not allowed at the Org. If you want to discuss the propriety of copyright protection software and techniques, you can do so in the Kingdoms SecuROM thread (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=90997), so long as it does not violate Org rules.
