I am currently playing a Makedonia Campaign and had the following questions about their recruitment:
Where can they recruit Taxeis Triballoi and Thraikoi Peltastai?
I presume that the latter would be in Byzantion and the settlement directly above it, but is there anywhere else? I also cannot find the Taxeis Triballoi, even in the settlement marked as being the Triballi Tribe!!!!!! I've been building regional MIC's though, so if they are in the factional someone please tell me.
What Galatian units can they recruit? Obviously the shortswordsmen and heavy spearmen, but what else? Can all their Celtic recruitment options be recruited in Galatia?
Where is Massila? I'd like to try out their hoplites (even if they don't seem to be anything truly special.
I noticed that they have Samnites and Lucanians available in custom battle. I can recruit them in Southern Italy with the proper MIC's right? Those would help greatly when I move to conquer Italia.
Why are the Agrarians so vulnerable to missiles? I lost 11 of them (between two units) in only two volleys of arrow fire. By contrast my Pheraspidai only lost one person. Granted they are uber armored and elite, but the disparity seems quite strange. Especially with Theurophoroi (who have better armor and lethality) available in more places.
What kind of Regional units can I expect in Getic territories?
What about actual Gallic territories, such as Mediolanum? Would I be able to recruit, say, Neitos (I love those guys)?
Thanks in advance

Both Taxies Tribalii and Thracian Peltasts are in Byzantion, Tylis, Naissos, Serdike, and one is available in Kallatis but I forget which. Taxies Tribalii are in the regional MIC all other thracians are in the factional MIC for Makedonia.
I forget how many Galatians Makedonia gets, but they get a good amount, in both Tylis and Ankyra.
Massilia is in Gaul, but only KH, Aedui, and Arverni can recruit the Massilian Hoplite.
Yes, Samnites etc in SItalia. As for Dacian or Gallic units, I don't know. I've never actually crossed the Danube or headed west with Makedonia. I always head east.

I have an older build, but you can recruit Triballoi at least in Naissos, Serdike, Tylis with a Local MIC4. In Ankyra you can get Kuruathoroi, Leuce Epos, Lavotuxri. In Dalminion Illyrioi Hippeis. And Agrianikoi only were a sole breastplate, nothing much.

you can also recruit the tinodatae (sp? the naked guys), as macedonia.

In Ankyra those units are with Regional MIC?
Just asking seeing as im playing a Makedonia campaign its so fun. Epeirus, Ptolemaoi (sp) and Arch Seleukia have formed a triple alliance against me! Im almost at ankyra and I need some easy to get fairly good non-pike melee units. Seeing as it takes ages to run Hyspastiti and Pheraspidai from Pella/Demetrius.
I can make Silver Shield Pikemen(Agryiasipidai?? hehe no idea how to spell their correct name) and the Reformed Heavy Pikemen from Pergamon which is good but Theuropodoi (sp) arent quite good enough to take on the elite of AS and Ptol. Those Silver Shield Thorakitai absolutely rape....

Trihemiolai are your friends. They cost only 100mnai more in upkeep but have stats increased by 50%. Thraikioi Peltastai are also good in cutting through armor and you can get them in Byzantion I think. (Factional MIC).

I've seen them being raped by Agrianians themselves... These guys rock in cutting armor, but in a hail of arrows they get pierced in droves...
Yes.

Where are the Trihemiolai from?
I havent got Byzantion yet. Pontos has that and im not quite ready to go to war with them just yet. They have a few full stacks around. Though when I do I will be recruiting the Traikioi Peltastai a fair bit.
Haha I had two units of Pezhetairoi guarding a street in a city one behind the other and the Silver Shield Thorakitai raped them both losing about 10 men themselves :wall: They were the last unit I killed off and only got them after everything else had routed and could surround them.
I dont usually like the Agrianians because they die too easy to missle units and I can only get them in Pella at the moment which sucks. Dont know if you can get them anywhere else.

This is new. I've never heard of Trihemiolai. What kind of unit is it?
And you can also get kuarothoroi from tylis, regional MIC level 4.

Trihemiolai is means roughly "three and a half" and is an improved Triere. You can get it in Naval Port Level III I think, so at least in Rhodos and Ambrakia, but likely also in Athens, Kallatis, Pella and Chalkis I don't know. They are much better than Trieres but cost only 100 mnai more in upkeep because I think the crew is not much more men.
The Agrianikoi are at least also recruitable in Serdike. The Thraikioi Peltastai you can not only get in Byzantion, but also in Tylis, Naissos and Serdike.
Edit: I forgot Nikomedia. You can get them there too.

When do the reforms for Makedonia happen?
Are there proper reforms like the Romans? I didnt think there was.
The only thing I think is that the Heavy Reformed Phalanx appears at roughly 250 BC. 'Cos I didnt know about them and realised at around 245-248 or so.

The trigger for the Makedonian Reforms is the same as the vanilla Marian Reforms, a Huge city in Italia.
Thanks for the responses guys, they will be really helpful when I get back to my game comp.
btw, which would you say is better, Hypaspitai or Pheraspidai? I have two of each to try them out against Pontus, but I'd like to get some opinions about them. What are they best used for? That way I'll know if I'm using them wrong or something.
Do the Epeiros get Taxeis Triballoi or Neitos? Do they get any Thraikians at all? (I know they get some Dacian units, but they ain't nothing special). Which Galatian units do they get? Because looking in the Custom battle thing I noticed that they didn't have their Heavy Spearmen or anything else of theirs.
btw, How come the Ptolemaioi get Legionary knockoffs, but everyone else gets a cruddy spearman unit? Why are their stats so mediocre? I'd rather ship over Taxeis Triballoi or Pheraspidai/Hypaspitai. The former have javelins and better numbers, the latter have far superior stats. It just doesn't make sense to give a standard heavy unit elite numbers, when elites are so much better and standard heavies have so many more units.
Can Hysteroi Pezhetairoi be recruited in all lvl 3 MIC's? or is are they unavailable in non-hellenic places (like Galatia or Italia)? Why can't Epeiros get them in Ambrakaia/Epidamnos, even though it is their homeland?
Are the Samnite Milites/Hastati very good? Theis stats seem to indicate so, but I haven't tried them in a long time, and never the Milites.
A couple of last questions:
Why doesn't the "effective against armor" trait appear for Thraikoi Peltastai and Dacain Shock Infantry? They use the falcata, which is supposed to be effective at cutting through armor.
Thanks for the help.

OK, ty.

In close melee, I'd take the Hypaspitai, but Pheraspidai are more mobile and have javelins which they are very good at using. They are also cheaper to train and upkeep and can be trained in the second-to-highest MIC (as opposed to the highest MIC, which the Hypaspitai require). So I usually take Pheraspidai, though I sometimes take both for fun.

I like them. Easy to get and very good. The Milites have an ap Kopis as well, something the stats don't show.

The Samnite Milites and Thrakioi Peltastai (along with some other units) do have ap melee weapons, but it is not showed because the game looks at the primary weapon (which is always the missile in missile untis).
