After capturing Isle of Islay, it rebelled (Baron Alliance appeared). The funny thing is, my army was still in the town (without the general, according to Family tree he "died tragically"). I was not able to select it in the ordinary way, only through the Military forces roster. I moved the army out, leaving the town with almost full stack Baron Alliance army.

Is this a normal behavior when the Baron Alliance appears?

What is supposed to happen when the Baron alliance first appear? Do the city and its garrison rebel? Or just a city, and its garrison gets kicked out, like in an ordinary revolt?

I suspect you're having a similar problem to the one that got me when the bridge to Venice was blocked and I surrendered the city in diplomacy to another nation. My garrison couldn't get out, and though they were visible in the now foreign city, they were not moveable and were for all intents and purposes destroyed.

Except that they do cost you upkeep still. It's a bad situation. My response was to reload and disband that army before giving the city away. I don't know what you can do, except perhaps try the move character cheat.

Good luck.

Yes, I guess it was a very similar situation.
But I could select this army on the Military forces roster, and move it out of the city. In fact, the same army is now besieging this city ~D

Have you tried selecting it on the Roster?

Oh yah, but there was nowhere for it to move. The bridge to Venice was occupied, and the city was held by another power. There's a thread if you're curious as to the details, I just didn't bother to search it up. Long past that point now. :)

I found the thread, and it is exactly the same situation, the only difference is I had the room to move the army out. Like in your case, the army sometimes showed on top of the city, and sometimes not.

I guess it is a bug, and as a discoverer, you have the honor to report it on a bug list ~D, if you haven't already

Heh! It didn't occur to me to post, as it's such a rare bug. Feel free to report it. :2thumbsup: It might be difficult to verify the exact circumstances, but that savegame I uploaded should still be there for anyone who wants to try.
