In Shogun, generals was inmortals. They only could die in battle or assesinnated by ninjas.

AFAIK only my kings have died of old age or disease or anything other than being killed in battle. anyone lose a general from age?

nope. generals, emissaries and bishops seem impervious to disease and age. only the princess retires into spinsterhood, other than the king, of course.

Saladin the Ageless is closing on his 150th year of leading his undying Saracen hordes against the sad Europeans (and the Almohads who have obviously been corrupted by the decadent ways of Western Europe). And he even still gets up for morning exercises each day too!

It's a slight shame, as it would sort of be nice if you felt pressured to use a good general before he died of old age.

You also suddenly understand why people remember that your general ran away from one battle ages ago and call him a coward even though he's won dozens of battles since, since they never get replaced by young troops who have nothing but reverence for him. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

Verbal Diarrhea: This general can't ever say or write anything in less than three paragraphs. Can't even yell 'Charge!' without a soliloquy. -3 to command.

I think could be very good, treat generals in the same way that kings: if they have a title (duke of...) will be given to their heirs. If he dead, without heirs, the title is for the king again... And of course with the age effects (and death like secundary effect http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif), added.

And then, how we can to quit a title of a noble??

Celti that is a damn good idea and i'm surprised the devs didn't think of it. If the general had no heirs then the title would be passed back to the king or say put up for auction.

Maybe it would just make the game too big.

P.S. to strip a noble of his title I think you just have to place an emissary on him and then select the correct option.

I think it would be cool if the abilities of your king slowly diminished over the years.. not all of them only appropriate ones.. ill let u guy decide.
