Recently the EB team was interviewed by Pompeius Magnus of TWC. For those of you who are curious here is the thread announcement (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=123927) and a direct link to the interview (http://www.gamestar.de/community/gspinboard/showpost.php?p=7420802&postcount=177).

Yeah, it had been a long time since anyone took the time to do that. Maybe it's only happened one or two other times, and those were probably back in early or mid 2005.

Their actually quite bad questions, what was with the emphasis on RTR?

Many people seem to think that they are competitors, which they aren't, afaik.

Interesting read, thanks for sharing.

That man has no vocabulary worthy of giving an interview, he misspelt the word 'start', and the word inspirited was mistaken for inspired.
There must be a second and more professionally conducted interview that focuses on the challenges and dedication of Europa Barbarorum developers rather than shallow, trifling quizzes.

It is a great shame that there are some who do not know why Gaul would be split by her factions, and why the Numidian faction had been renounced.
Though, this is why you do create this game - mostly for education, however I think those who play this without knowledge of Classical history are those who only adore thousands of people sprinting at each other formatively.

This guy who made the interview is just a normal member from the GameStar (the real famous german gaming magazine) Fora.
So he has like....nothing? to do with the magazin and its articles.
Besides this, his english is indeed terrible.

Why is his english a problem? It's the answers that are important, not the flawed questions...

Well, it looks better when the one posing the questions uses English correctly. That's all there is to it.

The interview was probably targeted for those who have never played EB and have only heard of it, which made it a completely okay article. There should have been some more graphics hype, but you can't get everything.

I thought it was a good and fair interview and I thought the replies with one exception were good.

Glenn as far as the Gaul being split, were you referring to the quote below?

As for the Gallic factions, we felt that to have one without the other just would not do justice to the civil war that ravaged the gallic world throughout our timeperiod and eventually led to the downfall of the independent gallic tribes and the eventual conquest by Rome of the rich gallic provinces.
The above quote is the reply I have a problem with.

We are well aware that you don't agree with us on this. We have all followed your discussion. But this is the position we take, and we haven't seen good enough evidence against to to change where we stand. We could have answered the question with an indepth debate on the position we've taken, but its an interview, so we chose something that was informative and to the point. I can hardly see how you can disagree with that.

I completely understand why you didn't go indepth on the subject, and the answer makes sense from the EB perspective. I don't disagree with you putting that answer down as it is your belief, I just think its a wrong answer.

I don't want to get into the debate on this thread as it should be about the interview, but if someone has some information that contradicts or supports what I have please put it down. The two threads that I know of that contain the subject of the supposed "Devastating Civil War" is here:

I don't think that the 521:st maggot in Sri Lanka missed your discussion, Frostwulf, and I myself am pretty damn sick of it already. There really is no need to come in and state your opinion in any damn thread merely mentions the words "Gaul" and "civil war" in one post. We all know it already.

To say something about the interview itself, I didn't find anything that I didn't know already. But as has been pointed out, it's aimed more at people who have never played it, rather than "wannabe-vets" like me. I just wish he wouldn't do things like writing "u" instead of "you"...

Chill. I agree in the sense that arguables should be reserved for their specific threads, but no need to heat up for it.

Sorry. I just felt I had had enough with his constant and unrelenting nagging about that topic, and felt like spilling my mind. But that's an explanation, not an excuse - I admit it was perhaps a small overreaction, though I probably came off more offensive than I intended to be. Diplomacy never really were my thing. :shame:
