Unfortunately there is nothing like what you are looking for.

My suggestion would be to spend some time in Custom battles on a flat map like Totomi with only a few units on either side. Make sure you set the koku to the 3-4000 range and check the "random units" box. You should end up with 5-7 units per side. Start with easy and then work your way up to hard and expert. Try setting yourself as the defender initially

The other thing I would suggest is to pay attention to what the computer is doing when it attacks, or when you attack it. It can't compare to what a human does, but it's still beating you at this point. Figure out what you did wrong and what you need to do to counter it in the future.

Good Luck

Obake,

What ever happened to that battle history you began writing months ago? I remember it because I was surprised that the players would "allow" anyone to describe the games in detail. I don't know why it popped into my head just now but I thought I would ask anyway.

You might find it helpful to checkout this STW strategy guide: http://gamespot.com/gamespot/guides/pc/shogun/index.htm

The suggestions Obake provided will be helpful.
I have found that by saving the game prior to end-of-turn and/or beginning of battle that these make good trainers also. I find the "mix" of units and number of personnel more realistic (loss from previous battles, sickness, or on vacation somewhere).
Even if I win the battle the first time, I may have thought of another manuver/direction during the battle, or how could I have taken less losses/more heads. Or reading in these threads provides excellent alternative battle strategies to use.
Sometimes the AI will use a different strategy also...more challenges http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif. The weather is the variable that changes most! Nothing like doing battle in fair clear weather and then replaying in a Thunderstorm!:eek

I have some battles that are saved (won and lost) that are on version (g)and I'm still thinking of different things to try. Lets me work on a problem when I have only a little time...campaigns just draw me in for hours (even when I promise myself "just an hour" it turns out to be 2-3am http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif )

Have fun

Ahhh Nelson,

I've been giving that some thought of late myself.

The project got put on hold shortly after I posted part 2 due to a death in the family which put me on near permanent hiatus until just recently.

I had apologized to both Magyar and Shadowkill privately for the delay and both had replied to me indicating that I should take whatever time was needed.

Now that I have returned from my semi-retired state, I will once again be going to work on detailing their epic struggle (complete with pictures). I will continue to release the story in an installment format when each section is complete.

My intent is also to re-release the saga in its entirety on a Web site I have been working for some time now. Just need to find a free hosting service that provides up to 50Mb of space and will allow ftp upload.

So that, as they say, is the rest of the story.
