Hello All, this is my very first post on this very cool forum, and i'm glad to find this place. I Love military history, I study battle tactics and the weapons used in the different eras and major wars. I know war in reality is Terrible, though still facinating, but as a game, it's awesome! you can call me Arkon I guess. I look forward to many interesting conversations here. Thanks to all those who make this place exist! :bow: Oh, and I have Midieval 2 and Empire TW. Empire is my Fave. I would get Napoleon, and the Shogun 2 series, but I don't have the money, or a good enough computer for it to be worthwhile.

Good moning to all of members.
I'm Italian, and actually living in a small town where middle ages may be inhaled with air. Great bailey who could resist even Frederick the II's troops assault.
My age, better not to declare. I've got the passion to play war games since the time when Personal Computers didn't exist, such Risiko or better Avalon Hill battle series.
I really like games where graphic appearance doesn't take over tactics and strategies (chess, Risiko, Avalon Hill's "Caesar Alesia" and - more recently - Civilization III, Medieval Total War and Rome -Total War).
Now, I am here to solve some ancient questions regarding Medieval - Total War, the original version, I think (ExtVer = 1.00, IntVer = 5.0).
I'll write more about my questions later in the respective threads, but I would like to anticipate that I really want to change faction colours in the campaign map.
I red something about it here, but I wasn't able to find the files and the directories written inside some threads in this forum, perhaps due to some difference in versions.

Your avatar is the image used in the Shogun II game for the "fugu chef" retainer. Fugu is the Japanese word for pufferfish. The fish is toxic and it has to be prepared in a certain way. Eating fugu that's not been prepared properly, is lethal.

You forgot to say that Fugu is considered the ultimate delicacy in Japan.
I'm not aware of the mechanical significance of the fugu chef in S2 though.

Your English is excellent. Much better than my Spanish. I too have played the TW series from the start but my favourite is NTW. Although the original 'shoggy' always has a special place in my heart.

Hi everyone. I've been a fan of the series since its introduction with Shogun TW. Have played countless hours in the TW universe up to Shogun2. To date my favorite is still EB mod for Rome TW. Since i have yet to play Shogun2 Rise of Samurai And fall of samurai cannot say how i value those compared to my favorite mod, but i'd say if the dev team can make EB for Shogun 2 with naval combat as part of the mod that would make for the greatest TW game ever.

I come as the leader of a group of map creators, which purpose is helping players to find custom maps,, with the use of TEd, and stuff like that, on shogun 2, as you know, there is not really any platform that help us in that way !! :)

Hi, I am new here so thought I'd be polite and introduce myself here first. I'm more of a classicist than anything else I suppose and though I played quite alot of Medieval 2 and Empire and Nappy TW Rome and and Diadochi wars were always my favourite. Long lines of strung out musket types trying to box the AI in are nothing compared to a well timed cavalry charge in Rome or most of its mods. I have played a few mods but EB is by far and away the outstanding mod there is. Those people are, in my opinion, what CA should be! As such I look forward more to EB 2 that R2 TW.

Hi all! I actually joined back in January this year having been drawn to the site by frogbeastegg's Shogun 2 guide, but wasn't really active (except a couple posts in frogbeastegg's threads on the guide and the Santa Moria AAR at the time). However I took a break from Total War after about a month due to having other events needing attention

But now I'm back! Both into Total War and this site/forums, and figured I should at least introduce myself. I'm enjoying the AARs people have written/are writing, and hoping I can learn more about the games in general from everyone. :bow:

A bit about me: I started playing the Total War series back with Shogun: Total War, which I was drawn to as I was studying Japanese at the time (still am), and it sparked my interest in Japanese history in general, as well as the Total War series. I've played some of the other games in the series (mainly Medieval and Rome) but the Shogun ones will always be my favorites.

Hellow everyone. My name is Toby. I joined this forum because I am currently playing RTW:EB and I had some questions. In the past I played a lot of M2TW but because my computer was completely crashed I can't play it anymore. Now I have a mac and it doesn't exist for mac :(. Still I love the total war games and after playing RTW/BI for a while I got bored and found out about EB. What a revelation, I think it's much better, but hard to install and to maintain. I hope one day to have enough money to buy a (windows) desktop for gaming purposes only (especially the whole TW-series). I love my mac for everything else. Especially for music: dj-ing/producing/recording/...
I am from Belgium, so watch out! We are the bravest of all Gauls! lol Don't believe too much of Julius Caesars propaganda. He just had to explain the loss of a legion and him holocausting the local tribes at the time. (I have had to read a lot of De Bello Gallico in latin at school) Still thru all our history, independency was very important.
I hope to enjoy this forum and learn a lot.

Allright, regelmatig krijgt ge van die opmerkingen als ge uw eigen taal gebruikt. En terecht uiteindelijk als get mij vraagt. Ik ken wel een hoop Nederlands. Maar die zijn allemaal hier komen studeren, dus ze hebben meestal al hun manieren geleerd ;) en spreken vaak een mengeling van Vlaams (Brabants/Antwerps) en Hollands. Vaak grappig en vreemd :D.
tga je goed mede Vlaming, Belg, Europeaan, wereldbewoner! (la chouffe is the shit! samen met st bernardus abt 12)

My name is Julius and I'm 16 years old. I live in Linz/Austria, where it's snowing heavily at the moment :2thumbsup:
I registered on this forum to get some information/tactics/advises from experienced players. I'm not new to the TW genre, but I haven't played Rome for a long time yet.
I bought this magazine where Rome Gold was included and it was just lying around in my room for nearly a year, but then I was like: "C'mon everybody says it's a fantastic game. Why shouldn't I install it?"
So I installed it, downloaded EB and started my first campaign, with Epeiros, on easy (shame on me :embarassed:)
It's working quite good until now, I always like to bribe members from different states. I have one from the Seleucids, a guy from Getai and a great Roman General.

It might also be my first finished playthrough. I guess thats enough information for now.

I would have liked to move on to Empire and its successors, but I will not do Steam ( and anyway my gaming machine is offline so couldn't if I wanted ). Hello all! I have been playing the Total War titles for about ten years. My favorite is Medieval Total War Viking Invasion. I recently got back into this game having not played it in about six years. I was worried it would not run on my Windows 7 machine, but I installed it, applied the button fix, and had no problem whatsoever. I started off playing a Viking Invasion campaign with me as Mercia. I have had no technical problems. I set it on Easy though as not having played in such a long time I wanted to ease myself into it.

Hello The Org, what a wonderful 'little' community this is. It's a bit late for a long-winded opening post so I'll keep this brief!

Rome: TW was one of my all-time favourite games, and still is to some extent. This was the first TW game I played and I followed that up with Medieval II TW, another classic. However my interest waned for the arrival of the newer titles, my interests are quite limited to those two periods. But, what's that coming over the hill, is it a monster, no it's RTW II! I really cannot wait for this game, I really hope that it doesn't disappoint.

October is a long time to wait though, so until then I aim to rekindle my love affair with RTW and MTW II. I'd love to sit down and write a decent historical fiction too, writing is also a passion of mine. Finally the games/ multi-player section looks very appealing with some great RPG games going on that I'd like to get stuck in to. So, that's enough for now, but I'll see you around!

Hello everyone!

I have had a look round, and I must say that is site is amazing! I had to make an account.

I play RTW a bit, but mostly I am making a private mod for my bro and our friend. I have been round some other tutorials, but got stuck when changing the Brutii into some sorcerers that inhabit the Sweden part of what is Tribus Saxones in vanilla. I am little more than a complete noob to modding, but I have created some new units, a new region in that above mentioned bit of the map, and of course got rid of the cliffs and the forest there. I am now making my first faction, which are meant to be a bit of a skit on the high-fantasy genre, but I also think they are cool too.
