I actually joined this forum back in 2003 but can't remember my email address or password from way back then so I thought it easier to start a new membership.

I've been a fan of the total war series since MTW. I can still remember the awe I felt when I first saw the Saracens coming over the hill towards Richard the Lion heart's position against the walls of a castle back in the oringinal MTW demo - my how far we have come since then!

I have been a regular viewer of these forums and really enjoy the commentary from the members, moderators and of course CA, as well as all the helpful tips etc.

Looking forward to being part of the evolving community that is Total War!

hi all...very much a newbie and a disenchanted TW applicant. Loaded the game onto this laptop and got the could not load exe file error message. I do not know if this board is the correct location to place this post. Please redirect if required.
Found that this laptop could not run TW and am here to seek, kind sirs and madames, some advice.
Thought long and hard about my gaming needs and have decided to forgo PlayStation for PC. The time has come for me to upgrade my gaming hardware. So i shall give up dark thoughts of PS3 and hope to immerse myself in the PC experience of TW.
But how do i get it to run? Just signed up for adsl2 and have a fast router/modem but what else should i ask for as to specs for a new desktop? Have read through a number of posts and some of the FAQs so given all the glitches should i opt for a quadcore full spec or is there a cheaper way of doing this? I await your sage advice. Thanks

Hail and fair well! As many new members I've been a lurker here for a while, and thought I would take the plunge.
What brought me into this forum is the class of all the posters here, and my purchasing the original MTW at a bargain bin for $ 3.00!
Now dont get me wrong I've played all the TW series when I purchased Eras with MTW2 as a bonus(questionable after playing it ;) ). I played immediately MTW/IV modded to XL with the Tyberius add on right off the bat. Yet I never played the original Activision MTW as vanilla...until now, and what a joy!
Also I just downloaded PMTW(ya, I know I'm behind the times), and I have to say I'm completely blown away, literally and figuratively! ;)
At any rate I look forward to talking and learning from all you wonderful folks!

Hello everyone!

I've been playing the total war games since shogun, but have never really gotten into the community aspect of the games. However, this is all about to change as I have signed up here :2thumbsup:

When I played medieval and rome, it was always a single player experience and I never considered playing online. When I bought Empire this changed. I tried a few matches and win or lose I had a lot of fun. Playing a live opponenet / with one as an ally, is infinately more fun (for me at least) than playing against the ai. Unfortunately, my experiences with random people online haven't always been the best. I've had lots of people spam/break rules that they set themselves etc. I don't mind this too much, but it's less fun than playing with people who a) are interested more in fun than a perfect record, and b) who you have developped a friendship with and can talk to during the game instead of a random who says nothing all match.

I guess I've gone into greater detail about my motives for joining this community than i planned hahah. Anyways, I look forward to meeting you all and playing some games! My main draw to playing online was empire, but that doesn't mean I won't let some people here convince me to play some rome/medieval matches with them!

I finally dared to download EB, and as such I have spent more than I should conquering for the Romaioi. More time has been spent reading descriptions and histories than actually playing, and that is an excellent thing in my book. :2thumbsup:

Hey guys, I'm new here too. I started playing RTW about two months ago and just finished beating all the campaigns in the main game, BI, and Alexander. I definitely liked BI the best, and Alexander was cool too but a lot more fast paced (finished it with 0 turns left). I just started playing EB now and it looks great. I look forward to trying some of the newer Total War games too. Looks like a cool community here.

I'm fairly new to these forums, having been lured here seeking something similar to Frogbeastegg's fantastic Rome TW guide for the Empire version. There might not be anything at that level (yet!) but there is some very helpful info out there (hiding between the CA gripes posts), and hope to share in some of that.

I'm one of these people that likes to spot the patterns in how game mechanics work, and theorycraft ways to be the most efficient. I have been putting together a number of ideas about the economy in Empire, and this might sometime soon turn into a guide.

To expand on what Ichigo said, junior members cannot edit posts. Promotion to regular full membership usually happens in a week or two, though, so you should be able to edit your posts in short order. :bow:

1. you can't have a custom avatar, we use general's, diplomats, princesess, and a unit individual potrait.
2. you need complete membership ( member ) to edit your posts , make albums, make groups, and
delete messages.

You should have been able to pick from the list an avatar when you signed up (the small pictures/avatars that you see on most people's posts), when you get full membership you can pick from a larger pool of avatars (the larger picture/avatars on the posts). If your still having trouble, I'm sure Pizza can talk you though it.

Hello everyone.

I have been playing Rome: Total War since it came out in 2004 but I wasn't really an avid gamer until the summer of 2008 meaning I only noticed Medieval II: Total War and the coming release of Empire: Total War at that time.

I caught up on my playing time on M2TW and then when ETW came and disappointed I left the series a while. However, one of my friends told me there was a scene online for the Total War series and after a little looking around I found this site to look the best so I decided to join.
