I was thinking that too.

The thread Title promised and it did not disappoint. I find the correlation between the wealth and the number of sexual partners unusual, but not altogether unsurprising. Could this be the "community of women" that Marx spoke of? jk

I don't see why the wealth vs # of sexual partners is surprising. A lot of the poor countries are more religious.

It's funny that they describe 58% and 46% as "comparable".

It's important to note though, that chlamydia is the common disease here... I think we have 10 or so confirmed HIV-cases a year.

Probably why a lot of (dumb)people have unprotected sex here, we fear knocking people up, not diseases.

Unless unprotected oral sex is in that statistic too, only a fool would get a bj with a condom on ~:pimp:

I I'll go on like before, maybe I can turn that yellow german blob into a light green german blob, it's an average after all and I'm 22 now.

This also makes Indian girls look very attractive in general.

And South Africa being the only african country represented makes me wonder how big the spots for certain other african countries would be.:inquisitive:

Also 15 years... :sweatdrop:

for one, the charts and studies were produced by durex. for two, they don't say much about what "safe sex" is.

they simply mean condoms, i believe. and i think that it is interesting that they say married people engage in "unsafe" sex at the same rate as unmarried people.

Id say that having the same partner for years and not wearing a condom is much safer than having numerous partners for years and not wearing a condom - even at the same "rate" (which is simply based on individuals questioned, not the number of their sexual encounters)

i hate charts and graphs.

I would say that i am taking it considerably safer being with the same girl for 2 years and not wearing condoms. she is on BC and i pull-out. the risk of infection is minimized as well because of our spoken agreements, regardless of how fragile they are.

my friend has had 8 sexual partners in the same 2 years and worn condoms about half of the time, but on a chart that pits single "safety" against married or committed "safety", it is 1/1 - Totally even!

Number of sexual partners at the same time, per hour, per year, or per life?

Geez Louise, what the hell is up with Turkey occupying the top slot for average number of partners?!? They're an awfully active bunch for a Muslim nation! I would have thought they'd be alot lower.

I also had no idea Spaniards and Germans could be so responsible and selective. My apologies to the Germanic folks here but based on personal experience and observation I would have thought Germans would be closer to the other end of the graph.

also, average is never really average. alot of the really die-hard pervs are going to rack up a few hundred or more and quite a few are going to be around 1 or 2. I would bet that a small majority, possibly even a major majority in many countries is around 1-3. therefore - "averages" are never averages.

lets say that 100 people get together to answer the question of how many dragons they have slain. 80% of people say 1 each. 20% of people say 50 each. the average is 12.8, but it really says nothing about the society as dragon slayers, because a disproportionate majority has only slain 1 in their entire life. if an upstart reads this, he may think that he needs to slay around 12.8 dragons just to be normal, but if he slays 1 he will be average. you follow me?

these statistics are loaded and paid for by condom companies in order to convince you that it is normal to engage in numerous sexual interactions to be "average" and therefore purchase more condoms.
