Hello everyone

This is my first post.

I played this game a few years ago and liked it very much. Now I am returning to it since I want to try all the mods that have come out since I last played. So far I have only had time to try the XL-mod briefly, but I am liking what I see so far!
I don't have much time for computer games and I only have a laptop to play on, so MTW is actually the newest game I am playing. The other two are also heavily modded and are Championship Manager 01/02 (still easily the best of its genre) and Europa Universalis II (the best computer game ever made in my opinion) - both made in 2001!

Onwards to my question: I have downloaded the 2.01 patch, but I can't run it as I am told that my computer does not have VI installed. This is rubbish of course, but I am wondering that this may be caused by me having the Gold-edition. I have mis placed my original CDs and bought the Gold-edition in attempt to kill two birds with one trebuchet.

Any suggestions?

Go here Support Page (http://www.totalwar.com/index.html?page=/us/support/supportmedievalii.html&nav=/us/7/1/). Go to the Support - Medieval section, and download the Medieval Gold patch. It's not actually a patch. It's a replacement file for the game's main exe file.

Welcome aboard, Norkus. ~

I'm going to sticky this topic for a while, as we seem to have a number of people recently who've picked up the Gold Edition.

It is worth noting that Gold Edition should be patched up to 2.01 already. Some were not, and this was apparently an error by the publisher.

And this is exactly why this is such a great place - a question is asked, and a wealth of useful information appears from all directions....:2thumbsup:

I'm going to sticky this topic for a while, as we seem to have a number of people recently who've picked up the Gold Edition/Eras Edition.

Official statement:

"The exe file that comes with the Sega Medieval Gold edition is version 2.0. This patch will update it to version 2.01. This isn't necessary for those of you who have purchased the Eras pack as this already comes patched to 2.01."
