Anyone else here think that Hobilars are the best unit in the game until Feudal Knights appear?

Or am I the only one running around armies consisting of nothing other than Spearmen and Hobilars (and winning easily every time, even on Expert!)

It's getting warm in here...that must be one hell of an INFERNO!

They're good and cheap and early. I use them a lot for flanking and chasing down in the early game. They eventually get replaced by mounted sergeants once I get the money and by Lithuanian cavalry and such if I get them but they are invaluable in the early game.

If you like Hobilars, try Polish retainers. They are the best overall light horsemen that I know of (though they aren't as fast as some, so you may want to include some mounted seargents to chase down horse archers). Armenian heavy cav are also a great early horse unit, combine them with saracen infantry and horse archers for a very good early game mix as the turks to help get you the resources to build up to janns.

Aw, c'mon. The Almohad Urban Militia will eat these guys ALIVE. Your puny soldiers would be more foolish than a thousand fools to attempt to defeat them... http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif
