Seriously now,
you're attacking a province so you get to pick the weather,

But almost every attack the weather i choose has no resemblence to the weather which appears as soon as i redeploy any unit,

now i could understand if the weather changed after half an hour or so
BUT
when you select bright and sunny with not a cloud in the sky, and as soon as you accept and start deploying it thunders down?

So far the only battles fought in sunlight are when it is sunny on the first day,
(a bug?)

Bring me the Royal Metoerologists...
and bring me my AXE!!!

Well, meteorology wasn't really well developed in the medieval times...

So Right you are.

Bringing an Army that has more then 1 unit of Archers/Crossbows to the fight is an absolute guarantee that it will Rain every time about 2 mins. after you were told that it`s a "Clear Day all day ".

Bring any Longbows and it will Rain hard all the time every day...I suspect that it`s the AI`s Secret Weapon, Control of the Weather.

For the player to get this you need to Research Fortress, Brothels, 110% Farm Land, Airports and Burger Kings..

It just rains a LOT in Europe... http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

If you want sunny weather, try visiting Spain, southern Italy, Africa or the Middle East...

Yeah, but where is snow ?

I agree on the snow... I'm nearly through an entire campaign and haven;t fought in snow yet. Granted the USUAL campaigning season is Spring-Autumn, but I'd like a little snow SOMETIME. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

I have been fighting all over europe,
from finland to spain,

and just before i came back here,
opening weather choice was
"clear, becoming calmer later on"

Nice and sunny as i watch the AI adjust it's positioning to counter mine,
then,
and as soon as i move a unit,
the sky is filled with clouds and it buckets down....

ah well, at least the AI is comprised of 75% horse archers and 25% steppe cavalry...

Think about it from the enemies point of view they must think you are Zeus when you keep bringing a thunderstorm to the battle... any chance your king is a secret heretic who worships the pantheon of the ancient greeks? http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

It would be funny if there was a vice 'Cursed to fight in the rain'.

Seriously, does it really rain that friggin much in middle, and northern Europe? Until I got to Spain and North Afica, I thought that all of the battles were being fought just outside of Seattle, Washington. LOL

Yes, it rains very much... only summer is a 'safe' period.

CA said sometime long ago that you can't be sure of what the message is, just that it is more likely.

All this is kind of related to a minor complaint of mine: miss the seasonal nature of STW - getting to pick your relative chances of weather as a tactical choice.

Devs: how hard to add that to your end of year dialog choice about how to fight the battle.

FO: you mean its like British television: need to put on a sweater just watching it.

Have noticed weather seems to move faster than STW, several battles fought so far had just a brief rain storm and then it cleared up.

the one i mentioned above,
the rain was so heavy I lost sight of half the AI army, when the rain cleared they came screaming in from every direction,
but i was waiting for that, i repulsed the first wave, and was about to give chase when,
you guessed it,
back came the rains...

I think the AI can call the rain,
AIPlayer to Process :- "hey, i need some cover here..."
(* rain comes bucketing downand a heavy fog rolls in*)
AIPlayer to Process :- "OK, my guys are all in position, gimme a few seconds then stop raining"
(* 5 seconds later rain stops, fog vanishes and sky is clear...*)
HumanPlayer (* Pounding on keyboard *) "Frazzit, DagNabbit - Frazzit weather...."

ah well, if they say they added a random element to it, so be it...

Can't say I've noticed - but then all my battles have been fought in Italy and N Africa so they've all been clear, apart from 1 with a dust storm (which was pretty cool)

I know what your problem is Barocca, you were excommunicated (whatever the thing is called where the pope doesn't want to know you anymore) and God helps the enemy by making it rain...either you'll have to hire some shamans to do a "stop the -rain dance-" or give God a bribe to stop the flooding.

Soldier of Fortune

O Fortune, most contrary, Of changing never chary, Now small, now great, Appears your state; Just like the moon you vary.

The life your servants suffer Makes wits grow sharper, tougher, Through games of chance Which much enhance Both easy times and rougher.

Lo, penury or power May greet us any hour: Your wheel revolves And all dissolves Like ice beneath a shower.

O Lady Luck, alluring But faithless in securing The wealth we prize, From me likewise You hide, your face obscuring.

I've bet my shirt and lost, My hopes of bliss are crossed; And, lose or gain, I still remain Hard up - but hang the cost!

My pounding pulses crave One smile for me, your slave . . . Friends, keep with me And weep with me: She favors not the brave.
