Shin-chan, dudes. Shin-chan.
I also can't resist watching/reading Bleach and Rurouni Kenshin :sweatdrop:
gb2/a/, weeaboo. You realize moot and Snacks are possibly the biggest weeaboos on the Internets? Plus, the official venue is at Otakon, a convention with a name that's a play on the Japanese word for weeaboo (not that I'd ever even remotely consider going there). Also, technically speaking, the Org began as a weeaboo site. :smash:
Also, lurk moar, you're getting your memes wrong ~;p
EDIT: Protip, mentioning that site is illegal around here, chums. Best edit it out.

Try Samurai Champloo. Same animators and style, hip hop theme as opposed to jazz. It's extremely well done.

Afro Samurai is superior.Just the same lame action flick IMO. Compare to the likes of Samurai Champloo it's like watching Random Sitcom On Lifetime vs Scrubs. The latter got style while the former's just an exercise in mediocrity.
Except for Samuel Jackson's involvement. :beam:
P.S. For crying out loud Ichigo, School Days is the very last thing I'd want anyone to watch, anime fan or no. Why would anyone watch a show about a scumbag guy banging all the girls in the entire cast and the girls all falling over him in mountains of angst is beyond me. All I ever gathered from its fans is that they wanted to see blood spilling from all the drama.
The whole show is made up of either :drama3: or :girlslap: and ends with :titanic: , according to the spoilers at least.
I'm not exactly soap opera-intolerant but...

I'm going to be the prejudiced bigot here and say that you don't understand a thing, here. I haven't seen anything about Samurai Champloo besides a game, and it looked crappy (lacking any semblance of style, unlike Ninja Ninja), so you got to be wrong. Besides Samuel L. Jackson (hamburgers!), afros, and the RZA, you have awesome fights (the teddy bear thing in the second to last fight was borderline, however). What more could you want?
It's the progression of the show that makes it interesting, to me at least, the twists etc etc. If you don't watch it that's fine with me, but then again the thread was never made for someone who wasn't interested in it in the first place.

You do realize 99% of anime games suck reaaal bad right? Think games based on movies in the US. I pity the fools - I mean, fanbois - who seem to be buying into this little Japanese commercialism galore en mass. :sweatdrop:
Afro Samurai got cool fights, I agree. But so is Samurai Champloo. What makes the latter superior is that it got more than just cool fights; it got fun characters with more depth than an average Naruto ninja, a story to tell (in a distracted, roundabout way), a sense of humor, an adventurous spirit, and really good music. And I said the last one as a certified rap-hating bigot. :laugh4:
Edit: Ichigo, I'm a big fan of anime. I still don't see why anyone needs to watch School Days though! I mean, seriously, it's not like this is Neon Genesis Evangelion where you at least have to watch at least once in your life to call yourself an anime fan.
Besides, your topic says "anime," then your post says School Days. I protest against this misleading trap! That show is nothing like typical "anime" style (ala Shakugan no Shana) except may be the generic moe character designs.

0i, Afro Samurai has five episodes. Samurai Champloo probably has whole seasons. As far as characterization goes I'd say Afro Samurai does a pretty darned good job (Afro vis-à-vis the girl and the teddy bear dude) given the limited room it had. Plus, it's not like it didn't have a story to tell either. This wasn't no blatant Naruto copy complete with the soullessness of that (really crappy) series, you know.
Also, as you may have noticed, my post wasn't entirely serious. I've never seen Samurai Champloo and don't plan to. All I know is that Afro Samurai was short but sweet and deserves honors for that.
That was just a suggestion to watch it. I enjoyed it, but I rather enjoy drama it's interesting to me.
Obviously my trap has worked mwhahaha ~;)

Whoa whoa whoa, this thread got WAY out of control here.
Some people have some very big chips on their shoulders, hope it doesn't cause excessive leaning there folks. Maybe instead of saying that everything, like 99% of anime out there is garbage, why not talk about stuff that we enjoy, snobs and elitists need not apply.
Anyway, some other series I have enjoyed in the past:
Noir
Cowboy Bebop
Samurai Champloo
Reign: The Conqueror
Dragonball Z - bite me, some of it is good
Inuyasha - see above
Berserk
Bleach
Ghost in the Shell
Hellsing
Love Hina
(ok, so I'm a sucker for those harem-style ones, shoot me already)
Some that I've watched and am indifferent, don't know what to think, or it started ok but got real wierd, or all of the above:
Scrapped Princess
Initial D
FLCL - too wierd for me
VanDread
School Days - 0_o
Shuffle - WOW, same vein as School Days

I said anime games, like the 1257th bugged Gundam something or the 535th Naruto fighting game, not anime. I sincerely doubt anyone would dispute me on this point.
Also, I don't think Shuffle is on the same vein as School Days. The latter is much more...vicious. And bloody. At least the last episode.

Beck Mongolian Chop SquadNow there's someone with good taste. ~D
Honestly though, BECK is very untypical for an anime. It's like, the blue-haired totally awesome rocking stepchild of an otherwise devout Mormon family. Highly recommended even for those who hate anime to hell. The music is good (and not J-pop good, more like rock music-good); the characters are real rather than stylized anime stereotypes; that big concert episode is beyond awesome; and the Engrish is actually comprehensible in English (!!!) and altogether hilarious.

MY Mom Loves It Tho...the legend (she is a big chinese myth/legends fan esp. the Romance of the Three Kingdoms w/ Cao Cao, Luu Bi, and the other dudes I don't know how to spell their names) not the adaptation...at least the anime show will cut out all the misc. quests and misadventures.

:clown:
Just kidding. :sweatdrop:
Although I'm technically quite fortunately not included in the term's definition by both the circumstances of my birth and the colour of my skin. Oh the irony! :P
Anyway, Shana II has been out for a while now. Cheers for the return of what was once the greatest meme ever. Warning: method of acquisition is uniformly illegal, don't do it if you have any respect for The Law.

To get back on topic (and, yes, indulge my inner weeaboo), I've recently been checking Rurouni Kenshin again (I never watched/read the whole thing). Don't care all that much for the period drama plot, but the love story between the male and female main characters keeps me hooked. Yeah, well, I remain a romantic sod ~;p

ANIME THREAD HELL YES!!
some of my favourite animes
Deathnote (All time favourite. Go L!!)
Gintama (If you are Japanese its 100 times more funnier)
Sergent Keroro (:laugh4: )
Ichigo 100 percent (Anime was good. But the season couldve gone longer)
Full metal panic (Fummofu is the best. But you gotta watch the first season otherwise its no good)
GTO (Watch it. Its worth it)
Shinchan (Yes. One of the greatest anime ever)
Doraemon (Good for younger kids full of hope for the future. No good for depressed ppls)
Zoids (Shut up.. I love them)
And if you are in to shoujo animes (romantic comedy/ romantic adventure... I got a friend who loves shoujo animes. I hate it. )
CCS (Card capture Sakura) (One of the most childish cheap pokemon like, fantasyish anime. )
Tsubasa Chronicles (Never seen it. So I cant comment on it)
Ouran High school (Apparently its good. Never seen it though)
There you go. Whole bunch of list for you.:beam:

Baba Ga'on: *thinks for a moment*
*remembers*
Ahhhh! I get it now. To be honest I no longer go there though. There's a point when toilet humor just gets obnoxious. Like Adult Swim.
Beefy: shoujo just means, roughly and not literally translated, "for girls." There are a lot of shonen romantic comedies out there really (think "Love Hina" or "Air TV" and the recent crop of Asahina-san's copycats from KyoAni), so you know.
However, nobody cares or should care about those arbitrary labels anyway. Answerman just said it the other day that American fans are much more open about this. The majority of American Honey and Clover fans -- awesome show by the way -- are male.
Also, CCS is good! :2thumbsup: Although I understand a lot of people don't like the magical girl genre, and I can see why.

You guys have made me check out School Days, since I got easy access to it and I was bored. Pretty interesting, though the protagonist and his blunders piss me off. Still, now that I've seen the third episode, if there isn't some nasty stuff soon (hey, I only checked it out for the promise of a bloody aftermath) I'm scratching this off my list. No spoilers, though, plox, if you're gonna tell me to hang in there.

Stick with it too the end it's pretty interesting.

I watched it 'till the end... and what an end. Saved the whole series from being an epic failure, you might say. AntiochusIII was right in his assessment of why people watch School Days -- I only kept watching after that last post for the promise of incredibly effed up situations and the inevitable bloodshed flowing from them (yes, my mind isn't entirely right).
In the end, only the violence really proved interesting. The first eleven episodes are more like a dead weight to me, though the episodes before which Saionji Sekai hits the sack with that douche Makoto were more interesting than the rest of the "bloodless" episodes simply because Saionji is the only character in the animu that was actually interesting, to a point, the way she brought the douche and the pretty girl (Katsura, IIRC) together while really wanting Makoto for herself. Later she just joins the emo club and it's just a drag.
But really, other than the early Saionji, the first eleven episodes were a waste of time. Emo whines by girls over some douche which no real girl with half a brain would ever moon over (plus, no real realism concerning their situation; where were the parents?). Only the last episode was awesome, but getting there took too long. So, the series was reasonably good in the end, but only because of the awesome conclusion -- which really didn't need the excuse of a past history to happen, as far as I'm concerned.

That's probably why the ending was so good and :freak:(imitating Makota's look on his face) kinda disturbing. They built it up into one spectatcular finish;unfortunately this is the only episode I like besides the opener.
If you would rather want to see the ending;then do not read spoiler.
...esp. the last couple of minutes of it with all the blood/dead lover and competing girl. Nice touch with the Jack the ripper method of proving Senkai's pregnancy (what ever happen to peeing on a stick?). The only shocker was when Katsura was finally alone with Makota...:skull:head!!!!!!!!! :worried2:

I cannot say much about anime other than there seems to be so much of it and therefore perhaps there is a high probability there is a lot of rubbish among them.
Anyway, the only anime I enjoyed watching was Golden Boy. That is because not only I enjoyed it but it is also the only one I have ever seen and remember. Probably seen a few pieces and snippets of others because of some people, but ah...
