Yes, I play under 1.00, but there are also those who play under 0.50 or 4.00.
For how to do it, check the first link in my sig.

I play 1.25. This gives more time than 2.0, the characters dont die off as fast as 0.5, and it causes the seasons to change properly (You play Spring '01, Summer '02, Fall '03, Winter '04 and then Spring '06). Every fifth year is a leap year and you skip it.

I just started a campaign with 0.5 timescale and it says I have over 800 turns to complete the objective...lol
This makes sense because it doens't take 8 years to go from scotland to london, but its annoying how you have 40 provinces and yet your trading revenues suck because no gunpowder = no naval drydock = crappy trading revenue...

I played around with a few different time periods and went back to the default. I find that it is the best balance for completion of each campaign. I couldn't get into those long 800 turn games.....

You can adjust the event file accordingly with your time scale.
For example i am playing on 0.5 then i halve the event date so i still have gunpowder event at the same "turn" as the original game.

I play on 1 turn per year, with years displayed. It depends on your rate of play, mine is slow so i dont mind having to wait double the time for gunpowder, as i only conquer about 10 terrritories anyway.

I tried it a few different ways and went back to the default. I get bored with a faction, or the current strategy/house rules I'm using, if I get too many turns deep into a game. Also I don't have a lot of free time for gaming, and I do play a few other games. So that's probably also a factor in why I like the fairly fast pace of the default game.
