Go for it, man.

funnnnnnnnnyyyy. Im convinced cops just get a badge so they think they have some power. There nothing but a bunch of bullies. Any man that takes joy in weilding power is a man that [is not a man.

Oh, the shame...I'm so ashamed:shame: :shame: Why? Why would the Austin officer treat a WOMAN like that. I bet you that the cars passing by him were going 75-85 mph laughing their heads off. Every Texan knows that the speed limit has a plus/minus of 10 mph rule. She didn't even do anything that would justify the use of a taser gun.

Let's see you RELAX w/ forty three tasers going off on your body.

Sorry if it got a little too emotional, I typed while I was watching the videos.:sorry2: They're not going to court, dang Pat Act:thumbsdown:
I hate going against Boy George, but he is only a Texan b/c of his dad.

I don't think all cops are bad, it's just the media/people like to portray extremes on both ends of the scale. But, there are alot out there who are nothing more than thugs in uniform.

The only cops that are alright are security guards.
And the only security guards that are alright are the ones that patrol the Wal-Mart parking lot b/c of their lack of power.

I thought judging people by the group was considered bad form here in the Backroom, or are cops an exception? :inquisitive:

But I thought all cops hung around all day at a Dunkin' Donuts shop and find one or two people to victimize in order to meet their quota. How could I think like that:wall:Must be more open-minded and not ignorant. Maybe we should stop putting the beatdown on...wait a minute what am I thinking??? If we stop...They'll only continue and...Oh! IT's already time for bed.
Well Goodnight y'all. :Zzzz:
SIGH!!! I almost became a yank a second back there and it was:scared:

In the first one the Policeman is completely at fault, he's completely violated her rights. Policemen try to manipulate you so you accidentally give up your rights, but there not allowed to barge in and completely disregard your rights. Although, she has taken the wrong approach and been aggressive, she should have been assertive. He's allowed to request you get out of the car, especially if he has reason to believe unlawful behaviour, but he has to have "line of sight" proof and not simply a hunch. She could easily have got a better response if she had said, "Good afternoon officer, what seems to be the problem?" and then whence he tells her that she was speeding then she should promptly address his request for the relevant ID etc. He's not allowed to open the door of her car without a search warrant or if he can see something illegal inside the car through the window. She should have stopped talking, it's making him angry, and as he has a weapon that's a dumb idea. She should definitely have stopped talking, and let her lawyer deal with it when she gets her 1 phone call. He's violated sections of both the 4th and 5th amendment.

SFTS- you know they ain't all bad. But I agree there's a good part of them that join just so they can exercise power over somebody. Like that ...fellow... in the first video who stopped a car going 5 over on a freeway and tazes the driver. What a jerk.

The second - wow. The guy could not pose a danger but they bring out the tazers. It seems tazers are too often used by police in general. They couldn't just back off a bit and let everyone calm down. Probably thought they showed him with all the tazering.

Bring back the guns, I say. If they shoot her in the first video instead of tazing then they either go down real hard or make it clear we're just a police state. Now they just get away with "oh we're subduing the suspect is all." The gun-like-but-not-really-lethal BS "weapon" is making "trigger-happy" a little too PC for my tastes.

In addition to Papewaio's advice, I would ask posters to refrain from writing violent threats against groups or specific individuals.

Graphic descriptions of violent intent in response to news items or differences of opinion have become rather too common recently, and the Backroom (let alone the Org) is not the place for such nonsense.

Thank you kindly.

There are good people and bad people in all walks of life-welcome to planet earth.

Banquo, if I ever get my hand on you, I will.......I mean arrrgh, really erm, hug you.... :flowers:

That said I agree that tasers are overused, since they were introduced I've seen them used earlier and earlier, first videos of them in use had the cop try to talk to the suspect first, later tase him, though sometimes way too often etc, now it seems like they use them right away even if there is no incentive at all.
If the guy who arrested that 15 year-old in the other thread hadn't been a rather nice cop, he'd have tased her several times as well I think.

Didn't they rename these weapons from non-lethal to less-than-lethal or something trying to show that they can actually kill? It's pretty ridiculous how they use them and if it goes on like that, I'd take them away.

The safest thing to do in any situation involving the police is to assume that the cop is a heavily armed psychopath without the merest hint of a conscience who will beat you and kill you at the drop of a hat and then go have hot dogs and beer with his buddies to celebrate your slow and painful death.

Comply. Comply. Comply. Resist later in another venue.

I've told cops that. Most look at you and say, "We're not like that, we just follow the law." Another started laughing and said "Good idea."

I disagree, don't ever comply to requests that compromise your rights.

In principle I agree completely. But I am not willing to be beaten or killed for the sake of a traffic ticket. I am, however, willing to fight WWIII about it after the fact when we are on a more even battleground.

Right, I see what your saying Beirut, start defending yourself once there's no weaponry involved. I suppose it's smart if you aren't particularly sure of your rights, can see the situation as potentially dangerous or if you haven't done anything wrong.

Ooo, another thing don't ever run. Ever. Because, even if you have done nothing wrong it is incredibly incriminating.

Now that's brought back some memories. If we ( my mates and I) found ourselves walking behind a copper (I told you it was an old memory ) we'd do one of two things. Either we'd start whistling the theme tune from Laurel and Hardy, or start running up behind them, and as we passed shout, "Quick run it's the filth!"....ahh the joys of being a teenager. :laugh4:

the second link said in the description that the man had epileptic seizures and after the wife called the ambulance the cops came and took him away in handcuffs, if that is true it sounds very, very weird, they killed him for having epileptic seizures? :inquisitive:

Ayachuco
10-08-2007, 15:54
Yeah, and those officers tried to help the man relax and calm down but using their tasers. So I guess they decided or thought that the extra shock would cancel out his seizure. Like a defibrillator helps jump start a heart. Wouldn't it be cool if doctors started to treat seizures w/ tasers.:sweatdrop:

Couldn't agree more.

You can usually bring a police officer to court over a specific incident or challenge his ruling.

InsaneApache

Not personally, however a mate of mine at a footy match was teasing a dog (and his handler) on t'other side of the street when the guy let the mutt go.

He didn't realise that the leash was about 30 feet long. Was he surprised. Still his leg healed up nicely in time for the next home game. :laugh4:

Off-topic: Got chased through a golf course by Police, their dogs and a paddy-wagon late at night. We weren't actually doing anything wrong though to be honest. Unless loitering is a crime.
