Hi, i am new to 3D max i was trying to do some modeling for the first time. It seemed to go well unitil i tried to export the model. I didn't create any new vertices, just moved some around (Four infact), because i was trying to keep it simple. The Thing flashed up that one of the vertices had to have a weight of one. I went to the weigh vertices and tried to adjust this. To my surprise, the vertice that it flashed up was weighed at 1.000. Which i found a bit perplexing. Any advice about exporting in Max, or a tutorial some where.
Any advice welcome.
Cheers

Well, you could always delete the skin modifier and start all over.:sweatdrop:

Hi, I'm not to sure how to do that. Any chance of a point by point way to do this exporting thing? It's my first stab at modeling. Perhaps i am doing somthing wrong in how i import the model, but it seemed fime till i came to try to export it. I really am swimming in unknown waters. Thanks for the advice anyway.

If you plan on doing any UV editing make sure the "unwrap UV" modifier is UNDER the "skin" modifier in the modify tab. You can just drag it under the "skin" modifier, right above "editable mesh" before trying to export it.

Hi, got the Max thing to export, after much f'n and blinding. I altered a mesh and hid it, deleted everything else bones etc. Then re-imported the original model, deleted it's mesh, unhid the alterd mesh, then it exported fine. There should be a Gothic knight up somwhere in a day or two. Thanks guys, for the pointers.
