View Full Version : Re-emerging factions & excommunication.
Is there a problem with re-emerging factions & excommunication? Allow me to elaborate... I am playing as the Spanish and there was just a French re-emergence- no big suprise there, I kind of expected it. It affected only one of my provinces so I evacuated it and let them have it.
What did come as a suprise was that next turn (after they re-emerged) they invaded multiple provinces of mine. I lost one province and they continue to attack me in different areas and yet they are not getting excommunicated? Yes, the Pope is still on the map and no, Im not excommunicated. Any thoughts?

yep problem in game.
one time the pope told me to stop attacking the polish. so i did, but they attacked me and took a province and started seiging the castle. i couldn't lift the seige since i would get excommunicated. i couldn't let the seige continue since my king was stuck in the castle.

The pope doesn't mind little factions beating up on bigger ones...he figures they can take the hit. He minds big factions pounding little ones, because he doesn't want to see any of them eliminated. The French were much smaller than you, so he allowed them to do as they please.
It's not a problem in the game. It's the pope being a royal pain in the ass. That's the way it's supposed to be. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif
Yeah, that could be Raven.
So, if you're not on "Papacy probation" are you allowed to lift seiges without getting ex'ed? Because after losing several provinces and having garrisons retreat to castles I was able to counter and lift the sieges with no Papal repurcussions.
