EB team member's don't count . You've guys have been playing something that was 1.0ish for awhile and torturing us with little bits and piece .
Someone said we weren't all mean. So we try to fix that.

Actually, apart from firing up 1.0 for the odd stats/recruitment/reform/etc check I have had no experience with 1.0.
I think it is time to start a campaign.

I downloaded the 1.0 installer via ftp last night (as a team member of course) and started up a Getai campaign today. The first battle I was in I really was surprised, even as a team member: I bought a new cpu two days ago and now have a nice big widescreen and can up all the settings on the game too. It was raining, had thick grass everywhere, new (better sized) conifers all around the battlefield, and the storm clouds were new ones that I hadn't seen either - with tweaked lighting too. The new barb music was in the background with horns blowing as I marched, and the new getai general was leading the soldiers. It really was amazing for me. I just got to get a non-integrated video card now so I can max every setting out on the thing!

I'm just downloading it by torrent with dreadful 100kb/s.
Arrr... :whip: A friend downloaded it with max. speed from Filefront, which won't give me more than 25kb/s. I'm so jealous.
In the middle of installing right now :)
KH here I come

That would be me friend. Don't get me wrong, you guys are quite ruthless. :furious3:
I loved it. Waiting for the release was an experience in itself.
At the very least I've had fun talking to everyone since there is like 200 people in this forum right now. :laugh4:

It seems that everyone who has nothing to do while downloading has gone to the tavern for a stiff drink or two, yep. Well? Well? Do the Sweboz get the oppidum? If not, I'm switching to the Hayasdan. XD

Well I'll be there, considering I won't be playing 1.0 for a day and a half.
In the meantime, why not join the new succession game were planning? It won't take much of your time, and it's a good way to interact with your fellow EBer's.
Just a suggestion!

Out of curiosity, what is this "succession game" of which you speak?

I am in a position to be the first person to start a campaign and post about it, but then my install seems to keep CTDing whenever I try to initiate campaigns or custom games. I just uninstalled EB and RTW Gold, and am putting them back in again to see if it works...

I am installing this baby right now, only took around 35 min to download. Now it's the hard choice which faction to play. I was having a excellent KH game but it had kinda just taken off.....and I was thinking of playing Pontos in 1.0 :dizzy2: All those hard choices :inquisitive:

Yer. I think I'll take Sweboz, after my excellent Roman game which was stopped just as I'd conquered Egypt and fought my bloodiest battles against the remnants of the Sweboz. All those high-attack and AP units are making me drool.
It took me only 31 minutes to download. It's the installation and loading that takes forever. o.o

It's simply a game where several people play a single player game. For example, you might play for 8 turns, then you save it, and pass it along to the next person, and they play 8 turns, etc.
It's also cool because everyone is assigned characters, and if you're character is the general in a battle, the game is saved and sent to you, then you play the battle, save it and send it back.
It also involves a level of roleplaying (acting like your character), and we have a council thread where everyone can discuss strategies and what to do next.
It's quite fun. :2thumbsup:

That sounds awesome! Oh, the long-desired fantasy of diplomacy that makes sense, and opponents that, albeit challenging, behave in a semi-realistic manner... I'm most jealous.

Ah, interesting. I'll take a look at it, but I don't think I'll be joining. I thought it was more of a campaign-multiplayer type deal (something that I know is possible, albeit with great difficulty, in M2TW, so I assumed that this was the same thing).
However, one of your posts raises a question completely unrelated to everything. How does one edit that text beside their avatar? (e.g. yours says "Your Lowly Tavernkeeper")
Cheers.

You can only edit that when you're a full member, then it's editable in your User CP section.

I was a lurker for a long time, and didn't post much, so I was a junior member for a year and a half. :laugh4:
If you can't tell, I talk a lot now.
I just managed to convince myself for 2 hours that playing EB 1.0 as the Arche Seleukia was studying for a Greek midterm. The new Klerichoi Phalangitais are beautiful and worthwhile to get, now . . .
Well? Well? Do the Sweboz get the oppidum? If not, I'm switching to the Hayasdan. XD
No, the Sweboz don't get oppida. Unless you let your enemies build them first and then acquire them through conquest. The archaeology for this faction may be murky in many areas, but it's pretty clear on this point - no stone walls for 272 era germanics.

Seems like we've convinced at least one non-team member to go along with our charade of pretending that we've actually having released a working build. Maybe some other folks will play along too! :laugh4:

Hmmm, I better not get 5kb/s on utorrent for a charade! :laugh4:
And in my opinion, EB is now 1.5479 times better.

Gauls, Iberians, & Getai - walled cities are all well attested for those cultures at this time period.

I'm installing it right now, but when it is done, I think I will start a campaign with either the Casse, or the Romani. And two days ago, I recently just installed Europa Barbarorum 0.8, lol. I was probably one of the last to download that.
Still downloading, but I have to go to train :(
But then I will download the rest of the torrent and start playing Swêboz
BTW: WEEKEND RULEZ

well, I'm playing Hayasdan now, and so far it's been nasty going, but fun. Caucasian spearmen are tougher than I'd expected, and I'm now four towns and growing. On my way to test out that new pan-Caucasian reform!

no, i just got tired of the romani- for now. if i did a romani campaign now, it would be my 3rd consecutive time re-doing a campaign. i heard bactria was cool, so im doing them first, and doing an AAR on them too. then ill do the romani... i just need a break. :2thumbsup:
i would also just like to add that i love EB, especially 1.0, even if it is a pain in the butt when it comes to custom battles. i was so happy when 1.0 came out i broadcasted it to all my friends, even my female ones..... im getting strange looks now. :laugh4:
heres a balloon for ur effort- :balloon2:

Here's my KH campaign so-far.
Just about to (hopefully) take Thermon.
First time I tried I got whacked by a well ballanced & powerful full stack Macedonian army & lost everyone including my Faction Leader who went down fighting hard as a Spartan king should.
One hoplite unit got 600 kills in that battle :balloon2:
That stack went on to weaken up Thermon for me :)
For some reason, Macedon really isn't putting its back into trying to take Athens, keeps sending only minor armies that are relatively easy to fend off (that one is actually the remnants of the stack that killed my Faction Leader & two failed assaults on thermon so it'll be a pleasure taking it out)
