you know that you got a custom/multiplayer EDU ?

the intro movie plays because we have removed the -nm command from the shortcut so you can see the pahlava intro. Eventually we will make our own intro movie for EB, but at the moment all you need to do is press [Esc]

from what i read, you have to replace the EDU each time u want to play the custom battles and campaign..... makes no sense- cn s/o re-iterate?

There's no way around that because the engine grabs the first 100 units with faction ownership in the EDU

And we at EB thought that giving a faction more than 100 units would make the world a better place.

Don't worry I have plans in place to change this.

so do i have to replace the edu every time i want to play a custom battle, then unreplace it?

Yes. We haven't done this because we are lazy, this is the only way to get around the very large number of units we have in EB. It was the same for 0.8

Well, if you have the memory, you might just be able to copy the EB directory over and replace the EDU in that with the custom and then create a new shortcut that uses the mod switch to point to eb-multi(or whatever you rename the multi copy to.

Yep. And this has been the case ever since we adressed the issue in the 0.8x series...

We will assume for the moment that the directory where you installed EB is

c:\program files\sega\Rome - Total War\

in c:\program files\sega\Rome - Total War\EB\mp custom game edu\ and rename the file "custom_edu.txt" to "export_descr_unit.txt".

right-click on the file you renamed and choose "copy".

in c:\program files\sega\Rome - Total War\EB\ right-click on the data folder and choose "paste".

it will ask you if you want to overwrite an existing file of the same name, choose "yes".

start the game.

tnx! and to undo that to play the campaign?

Foot

same again but you will find the campaign EDU in c:\program files\sega\Rome - Total War\EB\sp game edu backup

tnx! but this will be a pain tho- is there a way to make the first 100 units it shows as the factional troops? and not as many regional?

To do this just for the romans (it will still be messed up for other factions), open the EDU and cut and paste the section with the Roman units (they are kindly all together) to the top of the file.

To get rid of the RTW intros, you can delete the two startup movies in the vanilla/data/fmv folder.

The EB startup intro is going to be my last work for EB on the RTW engine base, and if everything happens as I expect, it will be the best movie you have ever seen in RTW and EB. With rendering and stuff.

And thanks for the thanks, even if the quality is quite crappy, and the whole rest too. Luckily changed the video editing software form Ulead to Adobe - everything looks much much better now!
