View Full Version : Menu Loading CTD
I installed EB10 to a clean install of rtw 1.5 (after removing all trace of previous versions of course), all went smoothly, yet upon attempting to start EB I get the usual loading screen, the intro movie, then anywhere between the start and finish of the loading bar for the menu it CTD's :dizzy2:
Any suggestions are welcome :help:

I've had a similar problem. I uninstalled EB v.82, followed by RTW, and deleted the old folder. Reinstalled RTW, updated to 1.5 installed EB v1.0 as directed. The installation went smoothly (other than taking forever) and I restarted my computer when it had finished. I started EB v1.0 and made it through the first "Europa Barbarorum" screen; however, when the screen with the loading bar popped up, I got a CTD about halfway through the loading process. I uninstalled everything and installed on a different drive only to have the CTD occur at the beginning of the loading bar. My first file was downloaded from Filefront so I deleted it and downloaded the torrent file, only to have the same thing happen.

Ok, I've uninstalled everything, defragged the hard drive and cleaned the registry, installed RTW again with v1.5 patch (checked and it runs fine), reinstalled EB v1.0, and no dice. It makes it to the loading bar and then crashees, no error message or anything. Is anyone else having this problem? I'm ready to reinstall v0.82...at least that worked.
I have the similar problem. I uninstalled EB 0.81 and RTW and deleted all old folders. Reinstalled RTW + patch 1.5 and install Eb 1.0 and restarted the computer. I started EB 1.0 and there was the first europa barbarum screen after this there is no intro instead only a black window for 2-3 minutes and then there is the menu, who glimmers the whole time with bars. You can choose a faction, but it doesn't start and I get a CTD. Please:help:
I want to play EB 1.0 :sweatdrop:
sorry for my bad English
PS: There was no problems with 0.81
UPDATE: Uninstalled EB, redownloaded EB from a different location, Reinstalled EB to a different copy of 1.5 and still same problem :sweatdrop:

The there might be an issue with your RTW 1.5 install... You could lock down which file/or lack thereof causes the crash by recreating the CTD while you have something like Procmon running in the background to monitor what files are read/attempts to read are made... You'll find a guide among the stickies.
New problem: After uninstalling/installing rtw multiple times, the install seems to be losing peices as it goes... After reinstalling for 4th time, the rtw icon for example is nowhere to be found, and after patching to 1.3, the 1.5 patch reports rtw.exe is not detected :furious3: although i can run rtw from the exe in the usual place :wall:
i would use procmon if i could get back to that stage TA but i think a reformat is in order :sweatdrop: (or maybe not, boot disc has disappeared)
UPDATE 2: managed to get rtw working and patched to 1.5, will use procmon after installing Eb10 :balloon2:
ok i used procmon and initiated the crash again...how am i supposed to use this info to let me get to EB quicker :book:
what am i looking for exactly ?
Although i notice alot (like hundreds) of "NO SUCH FILE" 's ... the majority of which are .tga and .tga.dds and some .txt files
Ook, fixed but in a weird way...it seems by re-introducing -nm to the command line of EB10 shortcut, the game loads up and plays fine :dizzy2: :dizzy2:
hope this helps anyone with a similar problem:inquisitive:

Can you give the full path directory for those of us who haven't gotten it to work and don't know what -nm is? Thanks :2thumbsup:
in the properties of EB10 shortcut on the desktop, add -nm to the target line
should look something like "C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW.exe" -mod:eb -show_err -nm
the -nm skips movies in-game and it was removed for the new Pahlava intro vid...but for some reason it stopped EB loading for me :dizzy2:

Amazing, after 10+ uninstalls/reinstalls, all I had to do was add 3 characters to the target line. Works like a charm...thanks!

Were the people who were having this problem playing with BI or Gold? (Not necessarily running off of the BI.exe.)
Nope not BI or Gold, plain ole' rtw patched from 1.0..well for me anyway:yes:
