So I finally dowloaded and installed EB 1.0, and when I get to the campaign select screen and click on the EB Main Campaign I get message saying "Please choose an itme from the list" WTF???

The only things left are historical and custom battles, and there's no choice to start a "Provincial Campaign" like there was in .81 :wall:

I'd greatly appreciate any and all advice! :help:

Same problem. All I have changed is the shorcut to run BI.exe instead of vanilla.

Care to share what that is? I looked through the forums before posting. My simple change of the shortcut was all that I used for 0.8x (I think).

Yes the only change I made was changing the target from the RomeTW.exe to the BI.exe

I changed it back and I can play campaigns now, but I'd much rather play 1.0 with the BI exe for more naval invasions and ai activity.

In 0.8x you had to choose the option of a Provincial Campaign. Choosing EB main campaign threw up the same error as we are getting here. This option is no longer there.

Anyone?

here a easy way to play EB on BI (from LestaT)

Step One

1. Open Rome - Total War folder
2. Open EB folder
3. Open world/map/campaign folder
4. Rename imperial_campaign into barbarian_invasion
5. Open descr_strat.txt inside the barbarian_invasion folder
6. Find campaign imperial_campaign and change it to campaign barbarian_invasion
7. Save the file and exit the folder/s

Step Two

1. Open text folder
2. Copy and rename imperial_campaign_regions_and_settlement_names.txt into barbarian_invasion_regions_and_settlement_names.txt
3. Save file
4. Open campaign_descriptions.txt
5. In the notepad (or any text editor) click;
a- edit
b- replace..
c- in Find what: box type IMPERIAL_CAMPAIGN_
d- in Replace with: box type BARBARIAN_INVASION_
6. Save and exit

Step Three

1. On the desktop, right-click on the EB shortcut
2. Left-click properties
3. In the target line, replace RomeTW.exe with RomeTW-BI.exe
* do not replace the whole-line, just the stated words above only.
4. Click apply and exit the box
5. Run the game....

Note: Just to add, this assume that prior to installing EB, you already have RTW and BI installed and patched to v1.6

That's worked, thanks.

Obviously the work to make the game more mod friendly has stopped the original way of working.

Ah thank you for relaying that information to us juba1

Decided to just go with it and play it with the RomeTW.exe the other night. My Makedonian campaign is going great and I can't wait to play my next one with BI.exe :2thumbsup:

ok ive followed these instructions to the letter but i cant start a campaign.

2. Copy and rename imperial_campaign_regions_and_settlement_names.txt into barbarian_invasion_regions_and_settlement_names.tx t

does this mean i simply rename imperial_campaign_ with barbarian_invasion?

i found this method is the easiest

Start up normal RTW. Pick a campaign you want, load it, save it, exit.

Copy your EB.exe, and paste. Right click copied .exe, go to properties and paste this into the target line ( "C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW-BI.exe" ), hit apply and close window.
Double click your new .exe and voila EB on BI. Simply load your campaign. This is all you have to do...no copying folders into other folders etc.

why all these other threads advise to copying files i dont know
