I wanted this to be my debut story here in the org, and I am, in fact, a Halo fan, so I thought to make a story about Halo. Here it is.

Through fire and flames, a Halo story

Corporal Jacobs of the 77th Marine Regiment was prepping his Assault Rifle in the bunker for the upcoming attack.

It had been a while since the invasion of Earth and the Battle of New Mombasa. The Covenant they were fighting had split into civil war, and now the once hated Elites were fighting with them.

His unit had been ordered to support the taking of the landing zone in New Mombasa, part of an effort to use the destroyed city as a base.

Sergeant Javes walked into the room, a battle rifle in one hand, a message in the other.

"Listen up Marines, the mission has changed. Marine forces at the LZ have been pushed back, and the other Marine's are retreating from the bridge. It's our job to join the main force on The Hill, get into the trenches and wait from there. Covenant forces are estimated to be high, and it will be a tough battle. Get ready, the Warthog transports will be here soon.

With that, I got up and walked to Sarge. We waited for a couple minutes, and the Troop Transport Warthog's were waiting, I hopped into the back of one.

When I stepped foot into the back, I knew I was in this fight, and there was no going back.

I was going to go through fire and flames.

It pretty good, catches attention, good to see you expand it.

The ride was long, and bumpy. Debris litter the roads, pieces of Ghosts, Scorpion and Wraith tanks, and Brute Choppers. A turned over, flaming Warthog was spotted near the Hill, a sign of an older battle. They were all relics of past battles.

We get to the base of the Hill, and we exit our 'hogs. I quickly make my way to the nearest trench line, making sure the machine guns are all prepared, all the ammo distributed, while Sarge goes to talk with the other officers.

I decide to stick to the front line trench, and make sure my assault rifle is ready for the upcoming fight. A marine next to me looks through his binoculars. "I see the bridge, looks like the Marine's up there are falling back."he sighs, and grabs a battle rifle, making sure the scope isn't fogging.

Rumors have been circulating that the Master Chief, a Spartan Supersoldier, was going to be part of this fight, and Scorpion tanks were also coming to support us. Bad news is, reports of a Scarab walker nearby makes us nervous. Simple infantry and trenches cannot fight the Scarab monstrosity, and we have few rockets to spare.

A marine jumps into the trench, next to me. He pants, I quickly get him some water. "Covenant, came in waves, couldn't hold them. They're coming here, it's going to be a blood bath."he huddles against the wall of the trench, a spike in his arm, an indicator that he had been hit in the fight.

I can only wait for the oncoming fight.

I got a good hour worth of sleep before the Warthog machine guns started up. A wave of Grunts and Brutes were launched, poised to take the Hill.

I throw a grenade, it explodes, sending a Brute and 2 grunts back. I fire my assault rifle, short controlled bursts, and take down another Brute.

And then, it starts to rain.

In an unannounced ceasefire, I see that both sides have looked up, to absorb the moment.

That is, before I notice the trench start to become muddy.

"Damn it! We got to get out of the trenches! They're going to be our graves!"I quickly try to scramble out, as do other Marines, but the walls of the trench are to slippery, and the mud inside is holding our feet. The Brutes seem to notice, and one throws a plasma grenade inside.

The explosion was devastating.

A huge ball of blue lit the trench, kicking up mud and the wooden supports we put up. I had managed to get down, but I know some Marines weren't so lucky.

I hear the screams of burnt Marines as they cry in agony, or express shock over their dead comrades. A Brute jumps into the trench, cornering a fallen Marine. I pick up the nearest gun toward me, a pistol. I fire in the Brutes direction, hitting it in the face armor, and it quickly forgets the injured Marine, and focuses on me.

I fire again, and again, no dice. The Brute gets closer to me, holding to the side what looks to be a Spiker. I hear the worst thing any Marine can hear,

The click of an empty gun.

I lean back against the wall, and throw the pistol at the Brute.

The Brute laughs, and puts it's foot against my chest, and brings up the Spiker to my face....

Little cliffhanger for you guys.

Find out what happens in the next installment of,

Through fire and flames, a Halo story.

(Next installment should arrive when I think of some ideas)

Comments and reviews would be nice :2thumbsup:
