I know, it's not specifically EB business but my post at the Apothecary hasn't got attention so far.
I uninstalled and removed all traces of RTW and BI but the installer refuses to reinstall with the nonsensical error message below:

There's no such path anywhere on my computer. I already removed every trace of The Creative Assembly from the registry too, which didn't help.
Without RTW, I can't play EB. ~:mecry:

Two checks:
1) Have you tried uninstalling RTW through the Control Panel of your PC? (see my guide...)
2) If so, does the Username of the User who installed RTW on your PC contain some non-latin characters? You could try and create an admin account on your PC called admin or sth.; and then re-attempt uninstalling & reinstalling RTW throuhg that account.

I had the exact same problem months ago, Mouz. It is solvable but I can't remember how I pulled it off.
IIRC, I think I had to clean up the registry and shut System Restore off. Then I rebooted and tried again. After that it installed with no trouble and I turned System Restore on again.

Thanks mates. Will try temporarily shutting down system restore. The answer to your second check is no, Tellos. As for the CP uninstall, I'm afraid it terminates the same way as the installation does. Actually, both RTW and BI falsely appear at the CP and I would like to get rid of them too.
Any suggestions on the registry cleanup part? I removed all references to "The Creative Assembly" thing manually but there must be helluva-load of rubbish there.

Apparently you've missed some bits in the registry when it still appears as installed. There's a link in my sig which may help.

Thanks for your kindness bovi but I went to that apothecary thread first. ~:mecry:

So you've searched the registry for "The Creative Assembly". Perhaps you should also search for some other terms. For instance "Rome", "Activision", <the name of your RTW folder>, etc.

I did that. They didn't return any results. Will do again just in case.

Actually...
I searched for Rome, Sega (damn my dottard memory :wall:) and TotalWar (not Total War) and found nill. Now, after your post, I found and killed a few Activision and Total War entires. Hope it works! :jumping:
