i say there should be.

I've been requesting this for months. I don't think they'll do it. I don't blame them really. Considering they still have to finish off 1.0 and move on to EB2, they probably don't have much time to devote to the screenshot contest.
In light of all this, I'll have to vote no.
Just do what I did, and dive head first into photoshop. If that's what it takes to win...

sure.
Than perhaps three categories...
Unmodified, slightly modified, utterly modified

Not a bad idea, though if I were to say "slightly modified", I would classify that as tweaking of the light, fixing things that protrude obscenely in an image (such as spears and legs going through shields and other objects), in order to make the image look more complete and better.
Heavily modifying an image can make it look cool or some other such similar adjective, but it would not make it look as realistic as possible. Making it look realistic would be under the purview of "slightly modified". And I prefer that in images I see.
Just my two cents.

I thought he was being sarcastic.
They've repeatedly said they won't do it. Maybe if you catch one of them right after they got laid.

Voted yes, and I'll quote Geoffrey S to motivate my choice:
It's meant to provide screenshots for the EB site, where I'd have thought it'd be out of place. It'd be nice to see a rule against photoshopping.
Also, there seems to be a trend now that only edited ones win. The last three months edited ones have won heroic victories over the unedited ones, and perhaps one month more than that - I can't really tell if Epiphanes winning entry was edited or not. (Which means that, if it was, it was an excellent edit.) Before that, the edited ones that made it to the polls were not as professionally done as the edited ones today, and thus they failed to gain the scores that the edited ones reak in today. That's at least how I see it, and a reason for my vote - however small (or likely inexistant) impact it may have.
If I may make a somewhat "pessimistic" prediction for this month's poll: Blank's entry will win. (Edit: With this I mean no offense to you or your pictures, Blank, they're awesome - I just think that you should play in a different league, that's all. ~;))

YES!!!!!!!
Because currently we are comparing "apples to tomatoes". With 2 categories we can now compare "apples to apples" and "tomatoes to tomatoes".

It is a disgraceful depth to which you sink, Hooah, in order to increase the chances of your winning the screenshot of the month competition.
You have insulted other members, complained without foundation, made outrageous proposals, and very bluntly whinged in such a child-like way I could near picture a spoiled boy typing your posts.
Yet I can advise you most stongly, that if you were to win this competition, whether to the aid of your pleas or not, there are none here who would think any better of you, nor envy your throne any more than you yourself would do.
And for this reason, this most dishonourable behaviour is more damaging to your reputation and influence, that it is succoring to your ambitious victory.
Do not continue on this path any longer.

Voted no. Blank has won 2 times in a row because his pics are awesome, not because he photoshops them. Usually people just spoil their good and fine pics by extensive photoshopping. Also I think there could be the problem of not enough participants to either of those categories.
And for the record, I personally haven't voted for Blank once, though came close with the bastarnoz, it's really a great pic, with or without the PSing.

Lol, are you for real? I think your describing yourself in that answer imo. I voted yes, edited screenshots aren't EB, your making the images of EB something they're not, which shouldnt be allowed. Were battles ever in black and white with pefect sunglares? No... they weren't.

Don't se what all the fuss is about - if the eb team won't make an offical one, make one yourselves, they surely won't object?
BTW, voted yes, it is unfair to bias in favour of prople with superior video editing programs/skills.
I voted no. First of all, I like to have an excuse when I lose. Second, taking a good screenshot already requires high graphic settings and muchos muchos luck. What I would like to see is a screenshot competition from which Blank is banned. :stupido2:

I'd say no, only a category for unedited pictures. ~;)
But more seriously, personally I dislike heavy photoshopping of RTW images in most cases. It makes them something they aren't and is often poorly done; graphically they may be better than unedited shots, but suffer from poor composition and would possibly be uninteresting without heavy editing. Exceptions there certainly are, such as Blank's entries which I have found consistently excellent, but to be honest I think I'd even have liked those without edits.
To be honest, I don't care particularly either way. I dislike heavy editing, but if other people like such shots enough to vote for them then it's no business of mine...

it is natural of the human behavior to want to win.
and i never said blank couldnt enter his screens- i just want it fair, as in, if there wont be 2 separate categories, . i cant afford a program such as photoshop, and GIMP i cant use very well..... but i will have to learn.
And btw, I am not by any stretch of the mind spoiled… I am 2nd of 5 boys…… I am anything but spoiled. :2thumbsup:

and dont tell me u never entered a competition to win! its only natural. im just speaking up for the little guys- the ones who are bad a photo editing, and who enter real, unedit, pure screens. ya, i know, i tried photo editing, but it didnt work- from now on until further notice, im entering non-edited screens. and most seem to agree with me, since as of now(10:33 AM, 10/16/07), there are 40 yeses, and only 20 nos.

Sigh. Let's just say that I prefer natural over silicon, discreet amounts of makeup over skin-colored woad and poise over movement disorders. If I find it disturbing, I won't go for it. Some guys will, but, well, whatever floats your boat. I still won't go around separating one from the other based on looks (unless truly horrendous), though I can't stand utter stupidity nor unprovoked silliness.

Interesting argument tactic. Twist the motives of those who disagree with you into something that sounds selfish and demeaning. Personally, I'm proud of hooahguy for reacting as he did to your excessive post. You need to cool down mate. Here's a balloon.:balloon2:

Where has he done any of this? He made a simple, polite suggestion that the majority of the community agrees with.
