Is there anyway to get rid of the "Client King" trait, after a privince has been changed to a type 2 government, other than by ~give_trait

Is this functionality planned for a future release?

How do we use give_trait with a general, and not a family member, anyway?

Nope this isn't going to happen in the next release. We want it to be this way. If you prop up a guy to have his own kingdom then take it away from him he's going to get really pissed off and raise merry hell with the locals. Be prepared for it. Either you have to live with him until he dies, or don't change the government level until he is dead.

Hmm. It sounds like sound reasoning. Certainly when the Romans did tend to replace an allied territory with its own government overnight there tended to cause lots of issues with the locals. The lifespan of a client king would therefore symbolize a gentle transition from one form to another. Good thinking :)

If the client king dies, how do I get a new general with the client king trait?

Tear down the government and build another Type4. It will only take two turns and a couple hundred dnai.

I like to role-play the time and money expenditure it as getting involved in the succession and making sure the pro-you guy comes to power. :2thumbsup:

I remember in MTW1 you could assasinate your own guys if they were incompetent. I don't think this is possible in RTW or MTW2 but it would of been nice

Yes, the assassinate own character with the EB system is a beautiful dream, one that has been stated in the past :)

Yes, and it's even more a beautiful dream if you have ever played Deus Lo Vult.

And then the dream shatters when someone mentions "hardcode."

Hmm. These client kings are placed by script, yes? That means the scripter knows the name of each king...and could theoretically kill the king...and replace him at the head of a big rebel army determined to take back what was "rightly" his...

Might be something worth considering, if it didn't require so much damn code ~;)

Pfft. It'd be a mere 70000 lines in 4000 monitors. Plus 4000 new name entries.

Edit: Hmmm...

I like the client ruler script best because...well....ITS A FREE GOVERNOR!!!
I pick type 4 building almost everytime I cap a province now so I have something to start the province off good with. This way I dont have to leave my legions there as an occupying force and they can get on with their campaign. I usually chage the government building soon after the region becomes more stable ie. religious buildings are in place and mercs have been recuited to defend.

Well it's not exactly free AFAIK. They're basically script-spawned Mercenary Generals with some special traits, and have the normal upkeep cost for the unit.
